TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Summary You will serve as a TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST of NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT. Responsibilities You will provide guidance and advice on transportation requirements. You will identify the proper mode of transportation movements for Naval cargo transiting through Air Mobility Commands. You will survey, conduct analyses, and evaluate post-movement shipment documentation. You will provide liaison with field activities, both domestic and overseas, for the express purpose of identifying problem areas and providing solutions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Practical knowledge of commercial and military transportation, regulations and practices sufficient to analyze and resolve problems of a procedural nature, such as determining mode and carrier to achieve the best value. Utilizes technical expertise and experience of the Defense Transportation System, to include transportation and distribution sufficient to monitor the transportation and distribution of Navy cargo in support of worldwide operational readiness to the fleet. Must possess knowledge of transportation traffic management mode selections, documentation, channels, codes, systems, and procedures, and knowledge of differences between surface and air transportation modes. Knowledge of and understanding of cargo receipt, storage, special handling, loading and/or offloading equipment, and related cargo processing sufficient to inspect, review and process cargo using FACTS, GATES, Syncacda and any additional DTS processes. Knowledge of DoD, Navy and Air Force Instructions, Dangerous/Hazardous Article Tariffs, policies, instructions, and publications relating to the movement of freight in order to coordinate shipment of various commodities and resolve frequent problems. Knowledge of hazardous and/or explosive cargo movement procedures and compatibility in accordance with applicable DOD and civilian policy in order to coordinate and approve shipment changes as needed to ensure proper, timely and accurate cargo movement.
