Phlebotomist -Part Time E/O Weekend

Position Overview Employment Type: Part time Shift: Night Shift St. Mary Medical Center, a member of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for a Phlebotomist to join our team! Schedule: Part Time – Every other weekend nights Responsibilities Collect blood samples from inpatients in a timely manner and deliver them to the lab for testing. Work with computers, centrifuge, and instrument lines for processing blood samples. Work independently with minimal supervision; be responsible, reliable, dedicated, and focused on duties for prompt and efficient patient care. Identify outpatients by verbal confirmation and positive identification system. Identify and label patient specimens for Blood Bank testing using the positive patient identification system. Perform venipunctures and/or skin punctures adequately. Use appropriate aseptic technique to draw blood cultures. Label all specimens immediately after venipuncture and complete necessary documentation. Evaluate specimen adequacy. Receive specimens in the computer and deliver them to the appropriate department. Monitor inventory levels and follow protocol for re‑ordering supplies. Delete or cancel orders as necessary with full documentation of reason and colleague spoken with. Collate requests, answer the telephone, deliver specimens to appropriate department, and operate the pneumatic tube. Demonstrate proper telephone etiquette. Assume responsibility for calls, correctly answer questions, direct inquiries, and take messages. Adapt work schedule to meet emergency staffing needs. Show responsiveness, courtesy, respect, and cooperation in completing tasks. Collect timed and statistical tests within the designated time period. Maintain supplies, carts, and workstations neat, clean, and orderly. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required.
