EMS Logistics Specialist

: What You'll Be Doing The EMS Logistics Specialist supports our renowned EMS System through day-to-day procurement and inventory management. You will be working with the Chief of Logistics and other Logistics Specialists to facilitate the efficient movement of all supplies through our EMS system, ensuring front-line response units remain “response ready” for emergency calls. This position will work closely with external vendors to ensure the resiliency of inventory stock and the Wake County Fire Services Logistics Specialist for warehouse utilization. Essential Functions: Collaborate with the Logistics Chief on the expectations and direction needed to meet supply chain goals and objectives of the EMS system Provide oversight of inventory procurement, purchasing supplies on recurring bid and non-bid schedules Anticipate and adjust for potential disruptions in supply chain, escalating necessary item substitutions, shortages and backorders to the Logistics Chief as needed Manage the storage and distribution of all items in the warehouse and EMS stations throughout the County Utilize inventory management software to complete daily job functions and reports Operate delivery trucks along with warehouse machinery (forklifts, pump jacks) to unload trailers, sort and rotate inventory, and other warehouse functions This position requires work in a physically demanding, non-climate-controlled warehouse environment requiring strength, flexibility and endurance Note: A criminal background and driving record check will be conducted, and pre-employment drug test is required. About Our Team Wake County EMS is a cutting-edge emergency medical services system that is responsible for providing EMS services throughout Wake County including within each of the county's 12 local municipalities. We responded to over 122,000 requests for 911 EMS services in 2022. The Logistics Specialist is part of the Logistics team within the Support Services Division. We provide direction, support and planning on all aspects of system logistics, ensuring that our field staff and fleet are equipped to meet the critical needs of the EMS System. The Basics (Required Education and Experience) Associate's degree in Fire Services, Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services or related field Two years of experience in logistics, supply chain management or related field Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record Equivalent education and experience are accepted Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) Bachelor's degree in logistics and supply chain management, or related field Experience with electronic inventory management software Experience working with equipment and supplies used in the delivery of Emergency Medical Services Experience working within a Public Safety Department or Government Agency Active EMT, AEMT or Paramedic Credential Experience working with Operative IQ “Back Office” Experience operating forklifts Experience working with vendors in a government procurement role, familiarity with bid schedules, RFQs, invoicing and 3PL carriers Class B Non-CDL driver's license and experience operating large vehicles and trailers How Will We Know You're 'The One'?
