The State of New Hampshire, Department of Education, Division of Workforce Innovation & Bureau of Disability Determination Service has a full-time vacancy for a Case Technician.


Summary:

Retrieves, compiles, and analyzes medical, social, and financial data to support Social Security Disability claims. Gathers documentation, ensuring accuracy, preparing reports, and maintaining confidentiality. Collaborates with team members and stakeholders to ensure timely, compliant claim processing within the Division of Workforce Innovation, Disability Determination Service.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in customer service involving direct public contact, claims processing, or financial recordkeeping, office or business administration or management or related field.

License/Certification: Valid driver's license and access to transportation for use in statewide travel.

Other Requirements:

Per HSPD-12, Federal Credentialing required.
Potential employees must undergo a background check, finger printing and credit checks

Trainee Option: Candidates with an equivalent combination of 1+ years of relevant education and experience after completion of high school may be considered and hired in 'trainee status' for this position.

When applicable, the work of an employee in trainee status in this position shall be overseen by a fully qualified individual. Responsibilities:

DETAILED TASKS (AGENCY/POSITION-SPECIFIC):

Computes, analyzes, processes, and resolves payments related to all orders and invoices submitted to the Disability Determination Service. Maintains detailed records of financial transactions, including expenditures and income, in accordance with state and federal budget guidelines.

Initiates and receives calls from claimants, medical providers, attorneys, and other stakeholders. Provides general information, answers inquiries, resolves invoice or report discrepancies, and schedules appointments. Supplies requested data and information to the Parent Agency, Federal Components, and other relevant entities.

Performs both electronic and manual audits of claim files, analyzing, processing, and routing incoming and outgoing agency claim technical data to ensure compliance with SSA and federal policies. Serves as the primary or backup reviewer for these processes. Conducts daily maintenance of the DDS vendor database to ensure accuracy and integrity.

Maintains logs of follow-up actions with non-reporting sources and conducts outreach via phone or mail to obtain necessary supporting documentation for claims.

Requests confidential medical and vocational records from healthcare providers, hospitals, and other sources in coordination with Disability Examiners, especially when development issues arise. Processes, verifies, and distributes sensitive claimant reports to designated agency personnel, ensuring confidentiality.

Manages secure electronic communications of sensitive claimant information with off-site SSA networks, monitoring for claim transmission errors. Maintains and files confidential medical and psychological reports in the agency's physical archives and ensures proper data entry into NH First and fiscal interfaces.
