The Opportunity We're looking for a Grants Coordinator who combines strong writing and organization with curiosity, follow-through, and a genuine connection to our mission. This role helps secure and sustain the funding that allows GAAMHA's programs to grow, innovate, and create real impact in the communities we serve. We're looking for someone with practical grant-writing experience who can step into an active portfolio and grow quickly into day-to-day ownership of the work. You'll research opportunities, develop and submit proposals, manage deadlines, coordinate reporting and billing requirements, and help us keep our commitments to funders. You won't be expected to know everything about GAAMHA on day one. We'll help you learn our programs, people, funding structures, and communities. What matters is that you bring strong writing, sound judgment, curiosity, and the organizational habits to keep important work moving forward. The Work Research and evaluate government, foundation, corporate, and other funding opportunities.

Maintain GAAMHA's grant pipeline, calendar, deadlines, and records.

Lead the development and submission of grant proposals, applications, letters of inquiry, and supporting materials.

Work with Program Directors, Finance, leadership, and other colleagues to gather program information, outcomes, budgets, and documentation.

Coordinate grant reporting, renewals, compliance requirements, closeouts, billing, and reimbursement submissions.

Maintain organized and audit-ready grant files and documentation.

Keep colleagues informed about upcoming deadlines, information needs, potential challenges, and next steps so we can solve problems together before they become barriers.

Support fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, sponsorships, and development events as needed, including day-of event support.

Contribute to the overall work of GAAMHA's Communications & Development team.

The Innovation GAAMHA is embracing artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies as tools that can help our employees work more effectively, thoughtfully, and creatively. We're developing organization-wide standards for responsible AI use, and team members will be encouraged and expected to learn how approved tools can support their work. In this role, AI may help with research, information synthesis, content development and refinement, requirement analysis, and workflow improvement. We also believe technology works best when paired with human judgment. Accuracy, confidentiality, professional judgment, and the integrity of the final work remain the responsibility of the Grants Coordinator. You don't need to be an AI expert. We do want someone who is curious, open to learning, and comfortable joining an organization that sees responsible technology use as part of how we continue redefining community support. The Qualifications Professional writing experience with demonstrated ability to produce clear, persuasive written work.

Experience with grant writing, proposal development, grant administration, nonprofit development, or a closely related function.

Strong research, editing, proofreading, organizational, and project-management skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and firm deadlines.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others.

Comfort learning and using grant portals, CRM systems, AI tools, and other technology.

Preferred: experience independently submitting grants; working with government or foundation funding; managing reporting, compliance, or reimbursement; or working in nonprofit or human services.

The Success During your first year, you'll build a strong understanding of GAAMHA's programs and funding needs, grow into day-to-day ownership of the grant pipeline, produce strong and timely submissions, maintain reliable grant-management systems, and develop trusted working relationships across the organization. As your knowledge grows, so will your autonomy. Our goal is for you to become a dependable partner who sees what is coming, knows what is needed, and helps keep the work moving forward.
