Acute Travel Registered Nurse (RN): PCU

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Acute Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the PCU (Progressive Care Unit). This role requires a dedicated and skilled professional who will provide high-quality care to patients with cardiac conditions and stepdown needs.

Position Information

• Unit: Cardiac IMCU
• Shift: 12-hour shifts (7p - 7:30a)
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Call Requirements: Only if census is low

Unit Profile

• Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 for cardiac patients; 1:3-4 for PCU/stepdown population
• Monitoring Equipment: Telemetry
• EHR System: Cerner
• Clinical Supervision: Managed by experienced healthcare leaders

Qualifications

• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year in PCU or stepdown unit
• Float Requirements: Yes

Key Responsibilities

The Acute Travel RN will be responsible for:

• Providing nursing care to cardiac patients, including monitoring and administration of cardiac drips.
• Managing chest tubes and other cardiac monitoring equipment.
• Performing assessments, interventions, and evaluations of patient conditions.
• Collaborating with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient care.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with PCU/Stepdown patient populations.
• Low-level ICU skills preferred.

Common Patient Diagnoses

The position involves caring for patients with diagnoses such as:

• Chest pain
• Stroke/TIA
• Pre & Post Open Heart Surgery
• Pacemaker management
• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
