Business Development Associate

Position Summary : The Construction Solutions Associate for prefabrication at Pillar Construction is responsible for managing revenue pipeline and sourcing prefabrication opportunities. This role requires proven experience in project management, business development, and maintaining strong organizational relationships. Successful performance in this role is a consistent ability to secure new business and maintain backlog for the business. Key Responsibilities: Business Development Lead and oversee multiple prefabrication pursuits. Develop marketing and business development strategy and benchmark to monthly, quarterly, and yearly. Attend industry events and meet in-person with interested parties across the real estate and built environment value chain. Owners, Architects, and GCs. Prioritize building deep relationships with Precon managers, project executives, senior PMs, design leads and technical architects, Construction teams within sponsors, and owners’ representatives or consultants wherever applicable. Focus on early-stage engagement that leads to qualified, winnable prefab opportunities, not volume of meetings or general networking. Client and Stakeholder Relations Serve as the primary point of contact for clients from pursuit to contract close. Fostering strong relationships and ensuring satisfaction, while generating leads and closing new work. Prepare and deliver pursuit updates, reports, and presentations for stakeholders. Proactively shape pursuits before they hit bid, Position prefab as a solution to real job constraints (labor, schedule, logistics). Resource Management Allocate pursuit budget effectively, marketing and business development expenses. Maintain and assess the return on investment for relevant pursuit costs. Identify opportunities to commit resources that further the aims of the prefabrication business. Qualifications: Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred). Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction and interest in moving into a client-facing, preconstruction and business development role. Prior experience in the Washington Metro Area and Virginia is highly desirable. Skills and Competencies Demonstrated ability to connect technical scope with schedule, cost, and constructability in early conversations. Understand assemblies, sequencing, and prefabrication constraints. Ability to speak credibly with owners, Architects, and GC precon teams. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively. Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint. Commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction. Curiosity and willingness to engage with potential customers to develop intuition. Certifications OSHA safety certification or similar qualifications are advantageous.
