Base pay range $80,000.00/yr - $110,000.00/yr Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer | Central Michigan | Industrial Machinery Design & Manufacturing A rapidly growing company specializing in industrial machinery design and manufacturing is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to join their high-performing engineering team in Central Michigan . This role offers the opportunity to design complex machinery, tooling, automation systems, and custom solutions used in advanced industrial applications—where creativity, real-world experience, and hands‑on engineering excellence truly matter. As a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in developing new machinery, improving existing designs, and creating tooling solutions that support high-performance manufacturing operations. You’ll work with a motivated, collaborative team focused on delivering innovative products at a global scale. Key responsibilities include: ️ Design new machines, tooling, and automation systems used to process precision components. Modify existing machinery to support new product requirements or reduce manufacturing costs. Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure accurate, repeatable part processing. Design custom tooling and fixtures for production equipment. Identify and implement industry best practices to enhance machine performance and manufacturability. Apply practical, real-world engineering experience to solve daily technical challenges. Utilize experience‑based engineering judgment— 5+ years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree . ️ Bring familiarity with specialized tooling (preferred but not required). Manage multiple priorities with strong organizational and time‑management skills. Collaborate cross‑functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and production teams. Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience) . 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience or similar technical vocation. ️ 3+ years designing machinery or tooling using 3D CAD software. 3+ years of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office experience. 3+ years working with ERP systems in an engineering or manufacturing environment. Preferred: Experience designing tooling or industrial machinery. ️ Exposure to specialized tooling processes and related equipment. Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) background preferred for hands‑on engineering applications.
