SUMMARY: The Loss Prevention Specialist II (aka “Client Advisory Services Specialist II”) will primarily provide responsive risk management advisory services to CPA firms that are CAMICO policyholders through CAMICO’s Loss Prevention Hotline, and e-mail. This position will work closely with and provide support to other CAMICO departments including, but not limited to, Marketing/Communications, Claims, and Underwriting. The Loss Prevention Specialist will also assist with the development and implementation of risk management educational programs; identify and develop proactive risk management tools; build and support external resources; and contribute/write articles for CAMICO’s newsletter and other publications. Counseling policyholders in a variety of practice and risk management areas will require the individual to (a) have passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination and to have practiced in public accounting for a minimum of four (4) years or (b) have a minimum of six (6) years of equivalent professional experience.

This position has high visibility to CAMICO's policyholders, agents and external resources and some travel is required. Must have the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Share risk management expertise in response to inquiries received from CPA Firms.
• Stay current with emerging practice issues, developing risk areas, current professional/regulatory concerns, as well as more foundational risk management matters, such as engagement letters, conflicts of interest, and disengagements.
• Assist the Loss Prevention department with building and managing external and educational resources to enhance and      support the demands for risk management content.
• Develop/conduct presentations on risk management and other topics of interest to CPAs in public practice.
• Consult as needed with other CAMICO Departments and CAMICO agents.
• Assist with projects as assigned. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university. 

A Certified Public Accountant who has practiced in public accounting for a minimum of four (4) years or six years of professional experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  

Strong communication and organization skills and excellent analytical skills are required. Ability to respond, identify issues, and practically communicate with CPA firms. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional literature, including but not limited to, regulatory/professional standards and other professional guidance. Ability to contribute to or write risk management articles, reports, business correspondence, and other documents as required. Advanced presentation skills are also desired. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY:  

Ability to demonstrate sound judgment (i.e., recognize and define issues, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions). Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form. Ability to assess and resolve problems involving complex situations.

DESIRABLE SUPPLEMENTAL EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS

Additional credentials and/or experience that are not required but would be beneficial include those related to offering risk management advice related to fraud prevention or detection, or forensic accounting (e.g., CFE or CFF), information technology (CITP), financial planning (“PFS”), valuation (e.g., ABV or CVA), cybersecurity, servicing cannabis clients, and/or having performed Service Organization Control (“SOC”) engagements.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

A CPA certification is preferred.
