About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President, Global Privacy Officer to join its legal department and lead the strategic and legal aspects of privacy. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and executing the global privacy vision, governance architecture, and risk assessment framework. This role requires a highly motivated attorney with a Juris Doctorate, a minimum of 15 years of legal experience, and 8-10 years of direct privacy law experience. The VP, Global Privacy Officer will oversee the handling of personal data across all business lines, advise on employee data processing, and ensure compliance with global privacy laws. Key responsibilities include leading the privacy function, setting policies for data collection and use, and managing the legal response to data security incidents. The role also involves partnering with various stakeholders to embed privacy by design methodologies and providing guidance on privacy-compliant data practices. Candidates for this role at the company should have a strong background in US, Canadian, European, and UK privacy laws, and hold a Certified Information Privacy Professional-US (CIPP-US) certification. In-house experience is preferred, along with a proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience in data security law, and compliance, and a deep understanding of IT, web, mobile, and ad-tech ecosystems are essential. The role also requires the ability to work independently, maintain strong relationships with internal clients, and act as a primary point of contact for data protection authorities and regulatory inquiries.
