A Day in the LifeNo two days in hospitality are exactly the same, and as General Manager, you're at the center of it all. You're responsible for creating a hotel where guests want to return, team members want to work, and the business performs. That means building a strong team, maintaining high standards, understanding the numbers, and taking ownership of the property from the front door to the bottom line.You may spend part of your day coaching a department leader, walking guestrooms with your housekeeping team, reviewing financial performance, preparing for a Marriott brand inspection, partnering with Sales and Revenue Management, or stepping in to resolve a guest concern. As General Manager, you set the tone; balancing people, performance, and the guest experience while keeping your team focused on what matters most: a great hotel, a strong team, and results you can be proud of.What You'll OwnAs General Manager, you'll have overall responsibility for the hotel's operations and performance, including:Leading, coaching, and developing department leaders and hotel associatesCreating a positive, accountable, and service-focused workplace cultureDriving guest satisfaction and responding effectively to guest feedbackMaintaining Marriott brand standards and ensuring brand complianceOverseeing rooms, housekeeping, front office, engineering, and other hotel operationsManaging staffing levels, scheduling, productivity, and labor costsRecruiting, developing, recognizing, and retaining great team membersReviewing financial performance, forecasts, budgets, and operating expensesPartnering with Sales and Revenue Management to maximize occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and overall hotel performanceTaking an active role in the local market and building relationships that support the hotel's successMaintaining a clean, safe, welcoming, and well-maintained propertyEnsuring compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable employment practicesBuilding strong relationships with guests, associates, ownership, Marriott, vendors, and community partnersTaking ownership of challenges and following through until they are resolvedThe Leader We're Looking ForWe're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys leading a hotel—not simply managing one.You understand that great results come from great teams.
