Principal Scientist, Discovery BioSciences Genomics, Oncology TRC

Bristol Myers Squibb seeks a Principal Scientist for its Discovery BioSciences Genomics team in Cambridge, MA. The role focuses on wet lab research using multi-omics approaches—genomics, functional genomics, and spatial transcriptomics—to advance oncology drug discovery and target identification with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory-based research supporting target identification and oncology drug discovery programs
• Design, develop, and optimize genomics and functional assays to evaluate therapeutic candidates and mechanisms
• Implement advanced genomic assays including single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, and functional screening strategies
• Manage research projects and collaborations across the oncology portfolio and translational research
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Discovery Biology, Predictive Sciences, and Computational Genomics teams

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years, OR Master's with 6+ years, OR PhD with 4+ years in life sciences
• Extensive hands-on experience with single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, RNA-seq, WGS, WES, and NGS workflows
• Strong background in CRISPR-mediated screening, gene perturbation methods, and functional genomics assays
• Demonstrated expertise designing, developing, and troubleshooting molecular and cellular assays
• Experience applying genomic approaches to disease biology, target validation, and biomarker discovery
• Proficiency in cellular and molecular biology techniques including cell culture and complex cellular models
• Ability to work cross-functionally with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
