Jerner Law Group, P.C., a boutique Philadelphia law firm located in the Germantown neighborhood, is expanding its practice into elder law. We are seeking an experienced elder law attorney to join our team in a flexible, part-time Of Counsel or contract attorney capacity.

This is an opportunity for an experienced elder-law attorney to take a leading role in establishing a new practice area within an established firm . The successful candidate will have substantial autonomy while benefiting from the firm's existing client base, reputation, infrastructure, and complementary practices.

The attorney will have the opportunity to:

• Establish the firm's elder law service offerings.
• Advise existing firm clients with emerging elder law and long-term care needs.
• Develop relationships with new clients and referral sources.
• Collaborate with attorneys practicing in estate planning, estate administration, adoption, assisted reproduction, and family law.
• Help establish systems, workflows, and client-service processes for the elder law practice.
• Shape the direction and focus of the practice based on the attorney's experience, interests, and professional relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise individuals and families on elder law, long-term care, and Medicaid planning matters.
• Advise clients regarding Medicaid eligibility, planning, and applications.
• Assist clients with guardianship, incapacity, and related matters.
• Advise clients regarding special needs planning and trusts.
• Review existing estate plans and identify elder law planning needs and opportunities.
• Collaborate with the firm's estate planning and estate administration attorneys to provide integrated planning and representation.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
• Build relationships with professionals and organizations in the elder law, long-term care, healthcare, and related communities.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience practicing elder law and estate planning.
• Active Pennsylvania Bar membership.
• Strong knowledge of Pennsylvania elder law.
• Significant experience with Medicaid planning,long-term care planning, Medicaid application
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently manage matters while collaborating effectively with a legal team.
• Compassionate, client-centered approach to working with individuals and families.
• Sound judgment and the ability to communicate complex legal and planning issues clearly to clients.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with estate administration.
• Experience with guardianships and incapacity planning.
• Experience with special needs planning and trusts.
• Active New Jersey Bar membership.
• Established relationships with professionals and organizations in the elder law, long-term care, healthcare, or related communities.
• Experience developing or expanding a legal practice area.

Compensation

Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, responsibilities, and the agreed structure of the Of Counsel or contract attorney relationship.
