Controls And Instrumentation Engineer
The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) is a University of Texas at Austin-supported semiconductor consortium of state and local government, preeminent defense electronics and semiconductor companies, national labs and nationally recognized academic institutions. Our mission is to develop and execute a state-of-the-art 3D Heterogenous Integration manufacturing technology roadmap, and to provide critical pilot manufacturing capabilities to address national security needs and catalyze domestic economic growth.

A total of five vacancies are available. This position may be filled at a higher-level title, relative to experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. Relocation assistance may be available.
The Controls and Instrumentation Engineer helps with development efforts related to semiconductor manufacturing equipment and processes that will define the future roadmaps of semiconductor logic, memory, heterogenous integration, and chip cooling.
- Contributes to one or more of controls, instrumentation, custom circuit design, and fabrication for novel semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
- Assists in researching and procurement of various equipment sub-systems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, or other relevant disciplines.
Two years' experience in electrical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, or other relevant disciplines.
Goal-oriented and ability to prioritize and multitask.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a collaborative team environment.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, or other relevant disciplines.
- Experience working in a research or start-up environment.
- Prior experience in one or more of the following areas: nanofabrication, precision machine design, mechatronics, systems and controls, instrumentation, optical systems design.
