Assistant Controller

Assistant Controller Our client, an investment management firm, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its growing finance organization. Location Dallas, TX. This role is on-site. Job Description This is a highly visible, hands-on role that will work closely with senior leadership and provide broad exposure across fund accounting, corporate accounting, financial reporting, treasury, and finance operations. This position offers the opportunity to help build scalable processes while supporting a growing investment platform. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and enjoys operating in a lean environment where they can make a meaningful impact. Responsibilities Oversee financial reporting, audits, tax compliance, and regulatory filings across investment vehicles and related entities Manage relationships with external service providers, including fund administrators, auditors, and tax advisors Support investment accounting activities, including transaction processing, valuations, and investment-related reporting Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and maintain strong internal controls Manage cash activities, liquidity planning, banking relationships, and treasury operations Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting Support investor reporting and other finance-related operational initiatives Drive process improvements, automation efforts, and strategic projects across the finance function Requirements 5+ years of accounting experience, including a combination of investment management, private equity, venture capital, fund administration, and/or tax experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred Knowledge of tax compliance and accounting principles Strong Excel and financial analysis skills Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and partner effectively with senior stakeholders Compensation Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco by Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors, including but not limited to: The individual's skill sets, experience, and training; Licensure and certifications; Office location and other geographic considerations; Other business and organizational needs.
