Overview This position is with the Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Fort Logan (CMHH-FL). The Psychologist II works in a 24-hour state psychiatric hospital with individuals committed for treatment. The role involves clinical leadership within the psychology department and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across hospital services. Responsibilities Provide individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy as needed, guided by the treatment plan and multidisciplinary team input. Develop group materials tailored to patient needs and lead group therapy sessions. Develop individualized behavior plans and programs; provide psychoeducation and training to milieu staff; monitor plans and document in the electronic health record; provide feedback to patients and teams and modify plans as needed. Conduct comprehensive psychological testing; consult treatment teams on referrals and results; provide psychological expertise to hospital departments and external stakeholders. Document regularly in the electronic health record; contribute to training of doctoral externs and predoc interns via seminars, supervision, co-facilitation, and mentoring. Contribute to hospital-wide events, in-service training, and program development; assist with certification evaluations and court testimony as required. Supervise designated psychology department staff; perform clinical and administrative supervision, performance management, and disciplinary processes; provide clinical consultation for civil treatment matters and guide treatment teams in restoration of competence. Support tracking and reporting of treatment outcomes; participate in program development based on best practices, trends, and statutory requirements. Participate in treatment planning and provide clinical guidance on goals, progress, and measurability; coordinate with treatment teams and external stakeholders as needed. Treatment Planning And Clinical Consultation Participate in patient-specific goal formulation and provide guidance on measurable clinical goals and progress. Review documentation, gather observations, and contribute to treatment plan meetings; participate in family meetings, discharge planning, and cross-team consultations. Consult with external stakeholders to support continuity of care; contribute to hospital-wide clinical training and department-specific training. Contribute to development of forensic treatment units, programming, and workflows; participate in work groups and hospital-wide activities. Psychological Screening And Assessment Perform psychological assessments including cognitive, personality, and risk measures; determine when formal assessment informs treatment planning and disposition. Administer testing, prepare reports, document results in the EHR, and communicate findings to the treatment team and milieu staff. Coordinate with the Neuropsychologist on referrals and testing needs; assist with suicide risk assessments with supervisees and in partnership with medical records. Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience Minimum Qualifications Current, valid licensure as a Psychologist from the Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners Three (3) years of experience as a licensed psychologist or a permitted psychologist candidate, two of which must be at the level of a fully operating psychologist No substitutions Preferred Qualifications Forensic psychology experience; supervision experience 3 years post-licensure (PhD or PsyD), supervisory/management experience in forensic settings or competency restoration programs Previous state experience Conditions Of Employment 2-step TB screening; annual influenza vaccination; other vaccinations as required by the State of Colorado Potential exposure to bodily fluids or caustic chemicals Incumbents serving juvenile populations must be at least 21 years old Legal/Administrative Notices EEO Statement: The State of Colorado is an equal opportunity employer.
