Psychologist I - Clinical Services at Fort Logan

The Colorado Mental Health Hospital at Fort Logan (CMHH‑FL) is a 24‑hour state psychiatric facility that provides inpatient treatment to adult patients with complex, severe, and persistent mental illness. The Psychologist I position supports patient recovery through assessment, therapy, consultation, and training across a multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions; develop and lead group materials tailored to patient needs. Develop individualized behavior plans and programs, providing psychoeducation and training to milieu staff. Complete comprehensive psychological testing (e.g., suicide risk assessment, intellectual and adaptive measures, personality and psychodiagnostic batteries) and consult on assessment results. Participate in treatment planning, goal formulation, and progress monitoring; document all interventions and feedback in the electronic health record. Provide clinical guidance and consultation to the treatment team and hospital departments; offer expert witness testimony and court communication as required for civil commitment evaluations. Support student training, including interviewing, selecting, and supervising predoctoral externs and interns; contribute to didactic curriculum and clinical supervision. Engage in hospital‑wide initiatives such as in‑service training, program development, and completion of certification evaluations. Adhere to all duties assigned by the administration, including ad hoc hospital activities and milieu support. Education, Licensure, and Experience Current, valid licensure as a psychologist from the Colorado State Board of Psychologist Examiners. One (1) year of experience as a licensed psychologist or a permitted psychologist candidate. No substitutions. Preferred Qualifications Psychology Doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.). Experience completing comprehensive psychological assessments and/or civil certifications; clinical experience with inpatient, forensic, or SPMI populations. Previous state service experience. Conditions of Employment May be exposed to bodily fluids or caustic chemicals. Required to be at least 21 years of age due to the juvenile population served. 2‑step TB screening, annual influenza vaccination, and other vaccinations required by the State of Colorado.
