Inpatient Coder

Job Description We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder to accurately review and code inpatient medical records in an acute-care hospital setting. The coder will ensure accurate coding, reimbursement, medical record documentation, and compliance with coding guidelines. Responsibilities Review and analyze inpatient medical records for accurate coding. Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS codes. Apply MS-DRG and Medicare/IPPS coding guidelines. Abstract clinical information from medical records. Identify coding discrepancies and opportunities for improvement. Perform coding queries when additional documentation is needed. Review denials and assist with coding-related issues. Maintain required productivity and quality standards. Use encoder/CAC systems such as 3M 360 or similar platforms. Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 3 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute-care hospital setting. One of the following certifications/credentials: CCS – Certified Coding Specialist RHIA – Registered Health Information Administrator RHIT – Registered Health Information Technician Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and MS-DRG . Knowledge of inpatient coding guidelines and Medicare/IPPS regulations.
