Supervisor, Operations Mutual Funds Trading | Southfield, MI

Job Overview Hybrid work environment: three in‑office days per week at our St. Petersburg, FL Corporate Office with flexible remote work. Manage the development and implementation of processes, systems, and infrastructure to ensure high quality and timeliness of operations in areas such as account services, international securities, transaction processing, or loan support/credit approval. Oversee several departments of a processing unit or the entire unit. Responsibilities Partner with cross‑site peers and managers to establish performance goals for the department and collaborate with associates to meet or exceed those goals. Act as an information source for associates, ensuring training and development occurs. Plan, assign, monitor, review, evaluate, and lead the work of associates. Oversee team morale and plan appropriate team‑building activities, rewards and recognition. Handle performance management, including career development and progressive discipline of direct reports. Interview and hire associates who possess the core competencies, strengthen the department, and mitigate turnover. Supervise others working within established operational systems. Contribute to the development of annual and longer‑term business plans; forecast performance against KPIs; develop business cases for key activities and projects; estimate financial and human resources required. Communicate the local action plan, explain its relation to the function’s strategy and to the broader organization’s mission and vision; motivate people to achieve local business goals. Develop and propose own performance objectives; take appropriate actions to ensure achievement of agreed objectives. Supervise a team providing administrative and service operations support with deep expertise in the service operations provided by that team. Develop short‑ or medium‑term work schedules to achieve planned commitments; approve overtime or use additional resources as needed. Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change‑management programs to address them. Work within established procedures to achieve specified goals. Advise managers on applying a wide variety of existing procedures and precedents. Help others get the most out of internal communications systems by offering support and advice. Keep track of risk parameters, identify deviations, and report them to senior colleagues; work within established risk‑management systems. Track budgets and report variances to senior colleagues. Provide coaching to team members to develop their skills. Identify instances of noncompliance with organizational policies and regulatory codes, report these instances, and elevate issues as appropriate. Knowledge Complex investment concepts, practices, and industry regulations related to mutual‑fund trading activities. Principles and practices of customer relations and communications. Accounting principles. Front‑end systems used in the assigned functional area and their relationship with account history. Plan, organize, and execute steps to achieve goals, achieving higher efficiencies; typically work without supervision and may provide technical guidance. Licenses / Certifications SIE required or ability to obtain within 120 days (as required by FINRA). Exemption or grandfathering not applied. Series 99 required, or ability to obtain within 120 days. Candidates holding Series 6, 7, 17, 37 or 38 or principal‑level registrations (Series 4, 9/10, 14, 16, 23, 24, 26, 27, 28, 51, 53) qualify for the Operations Professional (Series 99) designation without taking the exam. Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance; high school diploma (required). Work Experience General experience: 3–6 years. Manager experience: 13 months–3 years. Additional Requirements Travel: less than 25%. Work style: Hybrid. Compensation and Benefits Base salary plus possible cash or equity bonuses, commissions, and discretionary bonuses.
