Opportunity:

RN - Tele

Job Details:

• Day shifts available from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend rotation required
• 50% of holidays per contract expected
• Low census on-call possible for up to 36 hours per contract
• Schedule is created in 6-week increments and released approximately 3 weeks prior to start
• All requests for time off must be approved by the manager
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg or Telemetry experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS; ACLS preferred
• Patient ratio: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:6-7 (up to 1:8 in uncommon situations)
• Primarily geriatric patient population with cardiac, neuro, and general medical diagnoses including CHF, chest pain observation, seizure observation, stroke observation, COPD, and respiratory, kidney, liver, and GI issues
• Skills required include NG tube placement and management, foley placement and management, chest tube management, Pleurex and other drains, wound care, central line, port, and midline blood draws, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Experience titrating drips within set parameters including Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, and insulin required
• EMR system: EPIC
• IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Centralized telemetry monitoring with tele techs and a central monitor at the nurse's station
• Charge RN will maintain a reduced patient assignment; HUC support available until 11:00 PM
• Phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, and hospitalist support available 24/7
• OT, PT, and speech therapy available during daytime hours
• May float to other Med/Surg units or areas within the hospital where Med/Surg patients are located, including ER hold and ICU, but will only take Med/Surg patient assignments
• Orientation includes NEO and one 12-hour shift on the unit to learn workflow
• Scrub color must be any solid color and professional in appearance; no graphics, logos, denim, or designs permitted

Facility:

This facility is a Level IV Trauma Center with 100 total beds and a 28-bed telemetry unit. The unit averages 20 to 22 patients per day and is supported by a collaborative and engaged team environment. The facility provides comprehensive support services including 24/7 respiratory therapy and hospitalist coverage, centralized telemetry monitoring, and rehabilitation services during daytime hours.
