Senior Accountant II

Los Angeles Animal Services has one transfer opportunity for a Senior Accountant II (1523-2) position to oversee the Department's Accounting Section. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable exposure and knowledge of the City's policies and procedures; as well as working closely with Executive Management and staff at all six shelter locations. Candidates with extensive knowledge of the City's Financial Management System (FMS), and strong oral communication skills are highly desired. A 9/80 or 5/40 work schedule is available.
DUTIESThe duties include, but are not limited to the following: - Serve as the Department's Chief Accounting Employee, directing the work of the Department's Accounting Section. - Supervise a team consisting of an Accountant, Accounting Clerk, Senior Administrative Clerk, Administrative Clerks and As-Needed employees - Directs the purchasing and accounts payable functions of the Department - Prepare revenue estimates for various fees and services based on guidelines set by Controller and CAO. - Oversee the timely preparation of various departmental monthly and annual financial reports as well as any ad-hoc financial reports for various stakeholders including the Mayor, Board of Animal Services Commissioners, City Council, Office of the Controller, Office of the CAO, etc. - Develop general accounting procedures for new programs REQUIREMENTS
