Position Overview

We are seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer to join our growing Support team. This is a highly technical, hands-on role focused on providing advanced remote support, systems administration, infrastructure troubleshooting, and technical escalation across Atlas Technica client environments.

The Sr. Systems Engineer serves as an escalation point for Junior Systems Engineers and Systems Engineers while providing technical guidance, mentoring, and support across complex client issues. This individual will work closely with other engineers, Client Technology Managers, and technical teams to resolve escalations, maintain client environments, and contribute to infrastructure, cloud, security, and technology initiatives.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with excellent communication, ownership, problem-solving, and a customer-first approach. This position is remote within the United States and requires consistent availability during West Coast / Pacific Time business hours.

Position Responsibilities:

• Provide advanced remote IT support and technical assistance across assigned client environments
• Serve as an escalation point for Junior Systems Engineers and Systems Engineers on complex technical and client-impacting issues
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers through troubleshooting, knowledge sharing, documentation, and support best practices
• Manage and resolve complex support requests through the organization's ticketing system
• Administer and support Microsoft 365 technologies, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Entra ID
• Support Microsoft Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, identity and access management, and endpoint-management technologies
• Troubleshoot networking, virtualization, cybersecurity, cloud, and infrastructure-related issues
• Support Microsoft Azure workloads and contribute to cloud and infrastructure initiatives
• Implement and support enterprise networking technologies, including firewalls, switches, and wireless infrastructure
• Balance technical escalations, support tickets, project-related work, and research or improvement initiatives
• Maintain and improve technical documentation, procedures, wiki articles, and build standards while following strict change-control requirements
• Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute recommendations that improve Atlas Technica's technical standards, support capabilities, and client environments

Requirements:

• 3+ years of relevant IT experience in systems engineering, systems administration, desktop support, infrastructure support, or a related technical environment
• Strong end-user and desktop support experience across Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and common workplace technologies
• Significant experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Intune, and Microsoft Entra ID
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, identity and access management, and related systems-administration technologies
• Experience supporting endpoint protection or threat-management solutions such as Sophos or similar technologies
• Working knowledge of virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix, or similar technologies
• Strong networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN, VPN, routing, switching, wireless networking, DMZ concepts, and firewalls
• Experience implementing or supporting enterprise networking equipment such as Palo Alto or Cisco firewalls, Cisco switches, Meraki, Ubiquiti, or similar technologies
• Experience supporting workloads and services within Microsoft Azure
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance multiple technical priorities
• Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to junior engineers or support professionals
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a remote, fast-paced Managed Services environment
• Ability to work remotely within the United States while maintaining consistent availability during required West Coast / Pacific Time business hours

Desirable Qualities:

• Significant experience working within a Managed Service Provider environment, particularly with ConnectWise or similar service-management platforms
• Financial services experience supporting hedge funds, private equity firms, investment managers, or similar organizations
• Familiarity with financial market applications such as Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, FactSet, or Capital IQ
• Significant Microsoft Azure experience
• Experience with identity, collaboration, or device-management platforms such as Google Workspace, Box, Dropbox, Duo, Okta, AirWatch, or similar technologies
• Experience supporting Citrix XenApp or similar virtual application technologies
• Experience with cybersecurity and email-security solutions such as CrowdStrike, Carbon Black, Cylance, Mimecast, Proofpoint, or similar platforms
• Advanced experience with storage, virtualization, or infrastructure platforms such as Nimble, Pure Storage, NetApp, Dell EMC, VMware, Hyper-V, or XenServer
• Scripting or automation experience with PowerShell, Infrastructure as Code, or similar technologies
• Strong understanding of infrastructure design with the ability to evaluate, recommend, and help implement new and emerging technologies
