As a Fractional CFO at HTM, you'll serve as the financial partner to approximately 30 growing small law firms , helping owners understand their numbers, improve cash flow and profitability, and build stronger businesses.

This is a full-time W-2 executive position , not a 1099 consulting opportunity or independent fractional practice.

What You'll Do

This isn't a "close the books and explain the report" CFO role.

You'll help business owners use their financial information to make better business decisions.

You'll:

• Serve as the financial leader for approximately 30 client businesses
• Analyze financial statements and identify opportunities for growth and profitability
• Build forecasts, budgets, cash-flow strategies, and KPI dashboards
• Help owners improve pricing, margins, cash flow, and profitability
• Partner directly with business owners on growth and strategic decisions
• Hold owners accountable to their financial goals and commitments
• Help businesses become more financially disciplined and less reactive
• Build trusted, long-term relationships with business owners

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a strategic finance leader , not someone whose career has been primarily focused on accounting operations.

You should have:

• 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
• Significant experience working with small to mid-sized businesses
• Experience advising founders, owners, or senior leadership teams
• Experience managing multiple clients, companies, or business relationships simultaneously
• Strong financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning skills
• The ability to take financial data and turn it into clear business recommendations
• A track record of helping businesses improve profitability, cash flow, or scale

Experience as a CFO, Fractional CFO, Outsourced CFO, Virtual CFO, Business Advisor, or similar financial leadership role is highly relevant.

Experience with service-based businesses is a plus.

You do not need law firm experience. We'll teach you what you need to know about the legal industry.

Who This Role Probably Isn't For

This position may not be the right fit if your background is primarily:

• Bookkeeping or accounting operations
• Controller-only responsibilities
• Closing the books and producing financial reports without strategic ownership
• Large-enterprise/corporate finance without meaningful small-business experience
• Working with only one internal company rather than advising multiple businesses

We're looking for someone who can sit across the table from a business owner and say:

"Here's what your numbers are telling us, here's what I recommend, and here's what we're going to do about it."
