ASCP RN - House Supervisor

Job Summary: Coordinate nursing care during scheduled shifts with a focus on patient and family-centered care in an environment that exemplifies best practices and exceptional customer service. This role fosters relationship-based care and upholds professional nursing standards. Nursing care guidelines align with the ANA Code of Ethics, regional Nurse Practice Acts, the Nursing Process, and regulatory agency standards.


Essential Responsibilities:
- Oversee personnel management and coordinate nursing service activities during assigned shifts, ensuring safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care in line with organizational philosophy and policies.
- Collaborate effectively with other shifts to maintain continuity of care and assume charge responsibilities in the absence of unit leadership.
- Manage nursing staffing functions, including arranging and approving staffing levels, overtime, and emergency days off, while considering budget constraints and staff competencies.
- Coordinate resource distribution, special orders, and document all activities and decisions throughout the shift.
- Ensure compliance with emergency preparedness, infection control, hazardous waste protocols, OSHA, HIPAA, and other federal/state regulations.
- Utilize bed management systems to communicate patient flow status and coordinate emergency surgeries.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives, nursing research, and event documentation.
- Conduct patient satisfaction rounds twice per shift, addressing call light response, privacy, noise levels, and patient placement to enhance the patient experience.
- Respond to and assist with all emergency codes and rapid response calls, communicate significant patient condition changes to physicians, and document care and unusual occurrences.
- Promote patient safety through education, use of safety tools, and encouraging safe practices.
- Engage in professional growth by practicing conflict resolution, mentoring colleagues, participating in professional organizations, continuing education, and shared leadership activities.
- Uphold customer service standards by addressing ethical issues, promoting inclusion and diversity, and fostering positive relationships with patients, visitors, and coworkers.

Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire; enrollment in an accelerated MSN program is acceptable.
- Minimum of 2-5 years hospital experience, including leadership roles.
- Area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, and PALS may be required upon hire and must be maintained.
- Proficiency with computer skills is necessary.

Licensure/Certifications:
- Current active Registered Nurse licensure by the appropriate state nursing board.
