Global Banking & Markets (GBM) is a leading Canadian Capital Markets and Investment Banking business with a strong U.S. presence, providing clients with a bridge to key global markets across the Americas. Position Director, Sales and Client Risk Management, Global Transaction Banking (GTB) Purpose The Director, Sales and Client Risk Management (GTB) is a key member of the Global Transaction Banking (GTB) Internal Control and Anti‑Money Laundering (AML) program. The role contributes to strategic direction and AML risk management of GTB, partnering with Sales and Client teams to ensure reliable AML risk management controls are in place and to lead strategic AML related projects. Accountabilities Provides strategic direction, leadership, and oversight for 1st Line Non‑Financial Risk Management Programs across GTB, focusing on Sales and Client Services, including Operational Risk, Third Party Risk Management, Privacy, and Regulatory Compliance. Supports the Risk & Control Self‑Assessment (RCSA) program, including scope review of significant sales and client services related business units and processes, data gathering, and monitoring and coordination of remediation action plans. Partner with and provide ‘sounding board’ guidance to business lines, technology groups, and control and support units to ensure new initiatives assess risks appropriately through the NIRA process. Ensure Key Risk Indicators for GTB and significant units are updated, documented, and threshold justifications are provided for top operational risks. Participate in Scenario Analysis through documentation and research of relevant internal and external operational loss events. Provide guidance to contract owners on TPRM requirements, including completing Inherent Risk Questionnaire and due diligence. Support the Enterprise Regulatory Compliance Management (eRCM) program by reviewing regulatory obligations, mapping regulations to GTB business units, and identifying controls to address those obligations. Review Assessable Units and Assessable Categories (AUACs) as required by Global Compliance, assist units in completing CRCA questionnaires, identify major change events, and challenge CRCA responses. Provide expert oversight and direction on AML compliance and Sanctions, advising on regulatory matters for new regulations, organizational developments, and new products. Play a key role in developing and rolling out strategic process changes and long‑term solutions related to GTB’s AML controls, representing GTB in working groups across the bank. Provide subject‑matter expertise in structuring and rolling out new AML requirements and process changes required for onboarding, remediation, and off‑boarding activities compliant with regulatory reform. Support GTB by developing implementation strategies, detailed project plans, and monitoring progress related to GTB’s AML program. Provide expertise to GTB onboarding, products, EDDU and business units in KYC, AML/ATF, and economic sanctions, supporting maintenance of high‑risk client relationships. Lead key initiatives in AML and Sanctions Risk Assessment, audit resolution coordination, and regulatory response, ensuring transparency, stakeholder alignment, and sound risk management. Represent GTB and undertake additional projects to support implementation of changes to enterprise AML/ATF policies and local regulatory requirements. Reporting Relationships MD, Business Risk Management, Global Transaction Banking Dimensions Position covers GTB globally, requiring knowledge of Internal Controls, AML, GTB client coverage across multiple regulatory regimes, and Enterprise/GBM policy and processes. Incumbent must maintain in‑depth knowledge of Non‑Financial Risk Programs and AML operational processes, resolve non‑compliance issues promptly, and manage multiple concurrent activities under intense deadlines. Education / Experience / Other Information Minimum 10 years’ experience in financial services, including process improvement, auditing, sales, non‑financial risk, AML, compliance, and executive management across lines. Master’s degree in business administration, finance, or university degree preferred, or equivalent work experience. CAMS certification or other relevant field; agile designation or experience is an asset. Experience in enterprise or business line compliance program or operational risk management preferred; AML knowledge and experience is a benefit. Knowledge in GTB products and wholesale banking products and operating model is an asset. Fast learner with strong analytical, critical thinking, investigative, reporting, and planning skills. Change agent with high energy, strong ability to work under pressure, handle ambiguities, and drive results. Excellent written and spoken communication, leadership, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple compliance, audit reviews, and projects concurrently. Spanish written and spoken is an asset. Working Conditions Standard office‑based environment; non‑standard hours are common. Global coverage requires conference calls during Asian and European business hours. Occasional travel may be required. Demands can be unpredictable.
