Human Resources Assistant

About the Role Almaden is seeking a Human Resources Assistant that supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department and assists with recruiting, onboarding, employee records, benefits administration, HR compliance activities, events and general office administration. This position is ideal for an HR professional early in their career who is looking to develop broad human resources experience while supporting employees and managers across the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Recruiting and Onboarding Assist with job postings, candidate screening, interview scheduling, and applicant tracking. Coordinate pre‑employment activities, including background checks and new hire paperwork. Conduct new hire orientation and onboarding activities. Ensure all onboarding documentation is completed and maintained. Employee Support Respond to employee questions regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures. Assist with employee communications and HR programs. Escalate complex employee relations matters to HR leadership. Travel between offices when required. Benefits Administration Support employee benefit enrollment and changes. Assist with open enrollment activities and employee benefit inquiries. Maintain benefits records and documentation. HR Administration Maintain employee personnel files and HR records. Ensure data accuracy within the HRIS system. Prepare routine HR reports and metrics. Compliance Assist with I-9 verification and employment eligibility documentation. Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Maintain confidentiality of employee information. Assist with policy updates and HR audits. Training and Development Coordinate training sessions and employee development programs. Track training completion and maintain records. Support employee engagement initiatives and company events. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1–2 years of Human Resources experience. Basic knowledge of employment laws and HR practices. Strong organizational and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Preferred HR internship or prior administrative experience. Experience with HRIS or applicant tracking systems. PHR, SHRM-CP, or willingness to pursue certification.
