Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Externship Experience at Morgan Animal Hospital Morgan Animal Hospital in beautiful Niagara Falls, Ontario, offers a comprehensive externship experience for veterinary students. As a full‑service medical and surgical hospital, it provides an array of services including preventative health care, advanced surgical procedures such as laparoscopy, and dental care. The hospital is equipped with an in‑house laboratory, radiology suite, and pharmacy, ensuring students gain hands‑on experience in a state‑of‑the‑art environment. Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in the following areas: Gathering patient histories Performing physical examinations Creation of treatment plans Diagnostics and dentistry services Observing, assisting, or performing surgical procedures Medical management of patients Practicing communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate. Students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel or living expense stipend.
