Automation Engineer

Job Description

A client of Insight Global in the Bronx, NY is seeking an Automation Engineer to join their team. This individual will serve as the site's technical authority for PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, industrial networks, and automated production and packaging equipment, while directly supervising a team of controls technicians across a 24/7 operation. A primary focus of this role is standardizing an aging and inconsistent controls base, including PLC lifecycle management, program backups, and uniform programming conventions across equipment from multiple manufacturers. This individual will also own the automation portion of the site capital plan, leading upgrade and improvement projects while supporting change control, qualification documentation, and regulatory inspections. This is an onsite position.

Compensation:

$130,000 to $150,000 annually

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, Automation, or Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline

• 7+ years of experience in controls, automation, or manufacturing systems engineering

• 3+ years of leadership or mentorship experience

• Extensive hands-on experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs, industrial networking, and automated production equipment

• Experience in an FDA or GMP-regulated manufacturing environment - Experience with serialization and aggregation platforms, vision inspection systems, or building management systems (Optel preferred)
