Conflicts Analyst Job Overview The Conflicts Analyst is part of a team that processes all conflict check requests at the firm, including those relating to prospective clients and matters, new clients and matters, clients and matters relating to lateral candidates, and more. The Conflicts Analyst performs preliminary analyses of conflict reports and drafts conflicts summaries flagging any potential conflict issues. The Conflicts Analyst performs corporate research on entities submitted to be searched to confirm the validity of the entity as identified (flagging potential spelling errors), as well as identifying any relevant ultimate parents or associated entities that should also be added to the search. The Conflicts Analyst manages a Conflicts mailbox through which they respond to inquiries from Partners, Associates, and other staff. The Conflicts Analyst is responsible for maintaining the integrity of client and matter party data, which is critical to the conflict clearance process. Essential Functions Prepare and perform conflict searches for all prospective and new clients and matters of the firm using Intapp Open, the firm’s current conflicts software. Review and verify the affiliations associated with parties to be searched based on the matter descriptions provided by the requesting attorneys. Perform corporate research as necessary to validate the identities of the parties included in conflict search requests and add additional related parties to searches where appropriate. Analyze conflict search results to identify and report potentially relevant results, including potential conflicts of interest. Present the results of conflict searches in clear and comprehensive reports to Conflict Attorneys, firm attorneys and staff. Manage and maintain the integrity of data stored in the conflicts database. Demonstrate strong analytical skills by compiling comprehensive reports of clients and matters as directed by firm management. Help to facilitate the resolution of potential conflicts of interest through written and oral communication with affected attorneys. Provide professional and timely customer service to all firm attorneys and staff. Work additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements including providing after-hours coverage on occasion for emergent conflict requests. Must be flexible with overtime throughout the work week, weekends, and in some cases holidays. Perform other responsibilities as assigned. Skills/Qualifications 1+ year of experience in conflicts, new business intake, or a related field in a law firm environment. Knowledge of conflict of interest principles and applicable rules of professional conduct. Intapp Open software experience is a plus. Knowledge of Dun and Bradstreet, Hoovers, Lexis, Westlaw, and/or Pacer, and the ability to interpret the data produced by those systems is a plus. Ability to exercise good judgement if/when escalating matters to the Conflict Attorney team. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to develop positive working relationships (in-person and virtually). Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently as well as with a team. Ability to manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills. Ability to work on complex requests in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. Ability to work with and handle confidential matters. Proven problem solving, critical thinking, analytical and decision-making skills. Unquestioned integrity and professionalism. Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). Proficient in web-based conference call/web-sharing applications. Compensation The salary range for this role is $65,000 - $80,000. Actual salaries will depend on a candidate's geographic location, relevant experience, and skillset. Conflicts Attorney (Remote) Job Overview The Conflicts Attorney reviews, interprets and analyzes conflict of interest reports to identify and resolve potential conflicts of interest. These conflict reports pertain to prospective and new clients and matters as well as clients and matters of potential lateral candidates. The Conflicts Attorney is responsible for drafting waivers, reviewing and drafting engagement letter provisions, reviewing outside counsel guidelines and client contracts, implementing ethical walls, and other tasks and projects as needed. Essential Functions Review and analyze conflict of interest reports, identify potential conflicts of interest, and assist in resolving them. Review and analyze lateral materials and conflict of interest reports and identify potential conflicts of interest; assist Partners and firm management in resolving same. Provide clear and concise summaries of potential conflict issues and steps required for conflict resolution. Conduct online research and use web‑based research tools, company websites and/or public databases to identify relevant information about potential representations. Discuss conflict and loss prevention issues with Partners, Associates, New Business Intake Analysts, and others at the firm to identify and resolve potential conflicts of interest. Exercise discretion and professional independent judgment with respect to the identification and resolution of potential conflicts of interest. Draft engagement and waiver letters, as necessary, and follow up to ensure waivers are obtained before new clients/matters are opened. Review language in Partner/Associate drafted waiver letters and non‑standard engagement letters to ensure that they are acceptable and adequately address conflict concerns and related risk issues. Review outside counsel guidelines to identify deviations from the firm’s engagement policies; work with relevant attorneys to appropriately address deviations. Identify the need for ethical walls to screen individuals from particular clients and matters; manage and maintain the firm’s processes for implementing walls. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the American Bar Association (ABA) Model Rules of Professional Conduct as adopted in each state in which Blank Rome maintains offices, and jurisdictional differences in all states and practice areas in which Blank Rome conducts business. Perform legal research as needed to identify and resolve potential conflicts of interest. Train new conflicts team members in conflicts processes and procedures as needed. Maintain the integrity of the firm’s conflicts database. Assist with special projects relating to risk management and compliance as they may arise. Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned. Work additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements. Skills/Qualifications 3+ years of law firm experience, preferably in risk management or corporate compliance. Law degree from an accredited law school. Active bar licensure in at least one state and in good standing. Experience in conflicts identification and clearance at a large law firm. Experience with researching jurisdiction‑specific rules as they relate to conflicts of interest. Experience with iManage or other document management/document retention software used by major law firms. Experience performing legal research and corporate family/affiliate research (Hoovers, Dun & Bradstreet, Lexis/Westlaw, etc.). Experience with Intapp Open, Walls, Terms and Elite or other computerized conflicts systems. Ability to supervise Conflicts Analysts and train on system use, workflow and procedure. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to develop positive working relationships (in‑person and virtually). Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills. Proven problem solving, critical thinking, and decision‑making skills. Unquestioned integrity and professionalism. Strong, functional knowledge of the Rules of Professional Responsibility. Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe. Proficient in web‑based conference call/web‑sharing applications. Must have and maintain internet access and ability to work remotely after hours as needed. Compensation The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $170,000. Actual salaries will depend on a candidate's geographic location, relevant experience, and skillset. New Business Intake Manager Job Overview The New Business Intake Manager oversees the New Business Intake (Intake) team, responsible for reviewing, processing, and opening all new clients and matters at the firm. The Manager is responsible for overseeing, facilitating, and reviewing new business intake work product, processes and procedures. Essential Functions Supervise and oversee the New Business Intake team in the performance of their daily tasks, provide ongoing quality control, performance feedback and participate in the annual review process. Ensure timely processing of new client matter requests. Train new team members on New Business Intake policies and procedures. Train new attorneys and staff on New Business Intake processes and procedures. Identify, develop and implement updates and/or changes to client/matter workflows to increase efficiencies and meet the evolving needs of the firm. Maintain a working reference manual of New Business Intake processes and procedures and firm policies relating to the opening of new clients and matters. Work closely with the Senior Director and Counsel, Risk & Compliance to implement and modify processes and procedures relating to new business intake and risk management. Perform other responsibilities as assigned. Work additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements. Skills/Qualifications 5+ years of experience in a law firm. 2+ years of experience in law firm management, specifically managing a team. Demonstrated knowledge of conflict‑of‑interest fundamentals. Experience with Intapp Open preferred. Experience with iManage or other document management/document retention software used by law firms. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to develop positive working relationships (in‑person and virtually). Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. Proven ability to manage and mentor a diverse and remote staff. Ability to work with and handle confidential matters and maintain confidentiality. Ability to work on complex requests in a fast‑paced and high‑pressure environment. Ability to exercise good judgment. Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
