Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDeliver a high-quality first impression and create a positive welcoming environment for all those who come to the JCC members, program participants, guests and staff at the JCC, in person and over the phone.Check in members, program participants and guests using JCC procedures. This includes: monitoring member check-in position through the card scanner at the desk; preventing entry to individuals without an up-to-date membership, without approval to enter the facility as a guest, and or another legitimate reason to be in the building. All guests of the center not using the facility for programming purposes must sign in, wear a guest name tag, and be escorted by a JCC staff member.Be readily available during your shift to conduct walk-in tours for prospective members when the Membership Director is unavailable.Provide information regarding JCC membership, policies and procedures, program events and classes, current and upcoming activities in a timely and efficient manner to both customers and staff.Answer phones politely and professionally, redirecting all calls to the appropriate staffUse of our database to: process membership transactions, enter new members and make changes and updates to members' accounts with a high degree of accuracy.Follow established procedures in the event of an emergency.Make sure the welcome desk is kept neat and tidy with all flyers and materials replenished as needed.Report maintenance and facilities requests to appropriate staff.Additional clerical duties as needed.Perks!Free Complimentary Fitness MembershipEducation and/or Work Experience Requirements1+ year of customer service experienceExcellent interpersonal skills and commitment to providing quality customer serviceComputer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, ability to learn a membership database and good typing skillsCompetence in basic-level mathematicsAbility to work independently, set priorities and handle multiple tasksDetail orientedReliable & FriendlyGood oral and written communication skillsHigh school diploma or equivalentLead by example; follow all NOJCC policies and procedures as defined in the NOJCC Handbook and as directed by Agency leadership.Basic awareness of Judaism and Jewish cultural norms and traditionsPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, lift, bend and twistAbility to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periodsExpectationsAct and dress professionally. Staff members are required to wear a JCC shirt or jacket as their outer layer of clothing. Report to work ten minutes prior to your scheduled shift (15 minutes early if it is the first shift of the day), use the hand scanner to clock in or the payroll app, and always wear your nametag.Staff are responsible for finding replacements for any time needed off. If a staff member gets sick, they must contact their supervisor immediately and speak with them (do not leave a voicemail.) Always notify your supervisor of any schedule changes in advance of your shift.Cell phones may be used during your break time only. You may step away for emergencies but phones and electronics are no longer allowed out behind the desk.Books, homework, or personal materials are not to be out at the desk. These items may be used during your breaks.Breaks for a 5 hr shift are 15 minutes, 8 hr shift are 30 minutes off the clock and for longer than 8 hrs breaks are 1 hr off the clock. Breaks may be taken in the snack bar area downstairs or under the stairs in the front area of the JCC.Mandatory staff meetings will be held monthly and you will be paid your hourly rate.
