Position Overview

The Assembler is responsible for the assembly and production of high-reliability electronic power conversion products used in defense, aerospace, and industrial applications. This position performs mechanical assembly, wire harness assembly, wiring, soldering, and inspection activities in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, IPC standards, and Aegis Power Systems quality requirements.

The Assembler is expected to maintain a high level of workmanship, attention to detail, and consistency while following established manufacturing and safety procedures. Successful individuals in this role demonstrate reliability, quality awareness, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently once trained. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work are essential to success in this position.

POSITION: TEMPORARY  potential conversion to perm full-time.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical and electronic assembly operations in accordance with approved drawings, work instructions, and manufacturing procedures.
• Assemble wire harnesses and related electronic components.
• Read and follow assembly drawings, work instructions, bills of materials (BOMs), and other production documentation. Training will be provided on Aegis-specific processes and documentation.
• Properly use hand tools, torque-controlled tools, soldering equipment, drills, wire tools, and other manufacturing equipment required for assigned work.
• Properly handle electronic components and assemblies in accordance with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) control requirements.
• Maintain accurate production, inspection, and work records as required.
• Identify assembly, material, drawing, or workmanship issues and escalate concerns to the appropriate supervisor or Quality personnel.
• Work independently with minimal assistance once trained and qualified on assigned processes.
• Demonstrate effective problem-solving and critical-thinking skills when addressing routine manufacturing issues.
• Support continuous improvement activities designed to improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency, safety, and workflow.
• Practice safe work habits and comply with all Aegis Power Systems safety policies and procedures.
• Be willing and available to work overtime as business and production requirements dictate.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow written work instructions, assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and production documentation. Training will be provided.
• Basic proficiency using hand and power tools such as torque drivers, drills, and wire tools.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform repetitive assembly operations involving hands, wrists, and fingers.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods depending on the assigned operation.
• Ability to visually inspect small electronic and mechanical components for workmanship and quality.
• Previous experience working in an electronics manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.
• Previous soldering and/or wire harness assembly experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with IPC workmanship standards is a plus.

Training & Certification

Aegis invests in employee development by providing job-specific training and opportunities to earn industry-recognized certifications. Employees in this role will receive applicable training, which may include IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, ESD requirements, and additional certifications based on position and customer requirements.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily within an electronics manufacturing and production environment. Employees are expected to follow all applicable safety, ESD, quality, and manufacturing procedures while working with electronic components, tools, equipment, and production materials.

U.S. Person Requirement

Due to the nature of Aegis Power Systems’ work and applicable U.S. export control regulations, this position requires the individual to qualify as a U.S. Person as defined by applicable U.S. export control laws and regulations.
