Physical Therapist II

Job Description This is an inpatient position within Hyde Hospital Rehabilitation Services department. The Staff Physical Therapist (Physical Therapist 2) reports to the Clinical Supervisor and provides direct and indirect patient care services to adults, geriatrics, and potentially pediatric patients. The PT works with patients of varying clinical complexity, from acute to rehabilitative settings, and may supervise students and aides. The role includes participation in clinical development, compliance, quality, and safety initiatives. Benefits Sign‑on Bonus: $5,000 for new hires. Relocation reimbursement offered for candidates moving from outside the area. Responsibilities Perform physical therapy evaluations for patients of varying clinical complexity. Select and administer evidence‑based tests to determine functional impairments. Establish short‑ and long‑term therapeutic goals based on evaluation results and in consultation with providers and families. Develop and adjust therapeutic plans of care based on patient progress. Administer direct patient care using the full range of physiotherapy techniques within scope of practice and level of competence. Delegate and supervise support staff for tasks that can be performed by them. Complete discharge planning and maintain accurate patient care records as required by policy and payer requirements. Communicate effectively with patients, families, department staff, managers, and other clinical personnel. Report on patient progress at rounds, clinics, and team conferences. Demonstrate effective time management and organization skills. Perform any other duties related to patient care, as required. Complete routine departmental tasks such as timecard and schedule sign‑ups in a timely manner. Communicate with Supervisor and Manager regarding availability, licensure, and required learning. Participate in and lead compliance, quality, safety, and process improvement activities at the department and organization level. Represent the department professionally. Participate in staff education programs, team meetings, and orientation of new staff; serve as a clinical mentor if applicable. Provide training to physical therapy students and other health‑care students. Pursue ongoing clinical education and professional development, completing 40+ hours annually. Qualifications Required DPT Doctoral graduate degree. If graduated 15 or more years ago, possess a bachelor's degree. Minimum one year of licensed practice experience. Effective oral and written communication skills in English. Ability to recognize signs of distress. Basic computer skills, including use of the Epic electronic medical record. Strong interpersonal, time‑management, problem‑solving, and self‑initiation skills. Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations. Preferred Prior clinical experience in acute care hospitals and acute rehab/IRF settings. Experience working on an interdisciplinary health‑provider team. Required Licenses/Certifications Licensure as a Physical Therapist by the Physical Therapy Board of California. AHA BLS certification.
