Medical Surgical Nurse Opportunity

Provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in a Medical Surgical setting, ensuring safe and effective treatment aligned with established standards and physician directives. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to promote recovery and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing age-appropriate nursing assessments to determine patient needs.
• Develop and execute individualized care plans based on assessments and physician orders.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately, monitoring patient responses and educating patients and families.
• Document patient care activities thoroughly in compliance with hospital policies and standards.
• Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team members regarding patient status and changes in care plan.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and emergency/disaster preparedness efforts.

Qualifications

• Hold a current Maine nursing license or valid compact license.
• Possess a BSN degree (preferred) and current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
• Demonstrate ability to problem solve, utilize critical thinking, and communicate effectively.
• Be proficient in nursing assessment and skills across all age groups.
• Maintain up-to-date immunizations, including Varicella, HepB, MMR, Tdap, PPD, and flu shot as required.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, lifting up to 30 lbs, and patient mobility assistance.
