Social Services Coordinator
The Department of Community and Human Services values diverse perspectives and life experiences. The Adult Services Division (ASD) seeks to fill one Career Service and two Term Limited Temporary positions with an anticipated duration of twelve (12) months within its King County Veterans Program (KCVP) for a Social Services Coordinator. This position will provide general program support to include initial client triage, assistance with establishing program eligibility and program enrollment (for internal and external services), assessment lab support of employment and vocational needs, referrals, and linkages to existing programs throughout King County, and outreach to community partners. These positions will work with case managers and other team members to support veterans to gain the necessary supports to thrive in King County. Veterans may present with a variety of needs, from stabilization to access and navigation of services, the Social Services Coordinator will work closely with internal and community partners to provide resources and support to our Veterans, with the goal of helping veterans, servicemembers and their families achieve their greatest potential.
This selection process may also be used to create a pool of candidates for current and future career service, term-limited-temporary, and special duty opportunities. The pool will be active for 6 months.

WORK SCHEDULE/CONDITIONS: This is a direct service position and is scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5 pm, in the office. The incumbent will be required to work out of both offices in Tukwila (645 Andover Park W 1 st Floor Tukwila, WA 98188) and Northgate (Northgate Executive Center II, 9725 3rd Ave NE, Suite 300, Seattle, WA 98115), with a focus on the Northgate office. This position meets the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible with supervisory pre-approval. This position is not represented by a union.
MISSION CRITICAL POSITION STATUS: This position has been designated Mission Critical. Unless otherwise directed by the County Executive, department director or agency head, all employees, regardless of designation, are expected to report to work or request leave during an emergency or inclement weather.

To be considered minimally qualified applicant must demonstrate a background that provides the knowledge, skills and ability to:
- Assists in researching and gathering eligibility documentation (DD214, Military Service Records, employment verification, etc.) in order to access the full suite of veterans services.
- Provides support to clients with navigating program enrollment and access to internal and external services.
- Aids with engaging in programs, including referrals to community partners and training/employment opportunities.
- Informs veterans of available resources and provides information on how to access community resources.
- Assists with intake and triage of immediate client needs.
- Gathers and provides up-to-date veteran specific resources to the Veterans Assessment Lab and assists with planning and executing veteran service-specific events.
- Builds relationships with internal team members and provides outreach to community contractors and other community providers of services to assist veterans.
- Assists veterans in navigating complex systems to include Service-Connected Disability Claims Assistance, VSHSL Benefits Programs, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of veteran specific community resources and referral agencies to include Federal, State and Local level services (VSHSL). At least one year of experience working (professional/volunteer) with veterans or serving the community, providing supportive services directly or indirectly through programs. Skill in working and building rapport with diverse cultural, socio-economic and ethnic populations. Customer service skills in person and via telephone/email (discretion, patience, etiquette, professionalism). Computer skills and proficiency in a variety of software programs, including Microsoft Office 365. Proficiency working with databases, conducting searches, running reports, and ensuring data quality. Skill in written and oral communications for a variety of audiences and the ability to manage work across two KCVP sites. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a cooperative and collaborative manner as a team member, develop working relationships within KCVP sites and with external partners; well-developed conflict resolution and de-escalation skills. Valid Washington State Driver's License or the ability to travel around the county in a timely manner. Desired Qualifications: Experience working with community-based social services programs in King County. Experience working with adult populations in crisis. Experience working in community-based social setting.
