Position Location: North Carolina, US Estimated Duration Of Appointment: 1-Year Position Summary The Gillings School of Global Public Health offers a Master of Public Health (MPH) program with a variety of concentrations. The View email address on click.appcast.io online option provides a flexible, fully online alternative for students who prefer remote learning. Section instructors for View email address on click.appcast.io will be responsible for teaching core or concentration courses through live, online, synchronous sessions. They will conduct one live session per week for 13 weeks in a 14‑week term, with classes scheduled on weekday evenings Monday–Thursday. Responsibilities Facilitate weekly live sessions in which the class discusses and applies learning from self‑paced modules developed by lead faculty. Grade assessments and provide verbal and written feedback to students as appropriate. Respond to student questions and issues related to the course. Maintain regular communications with lead faculty and the coordinator for View email address on click.appcast.io about students’ experiences, potential barriers, ideas for enhancement, etc. Follow a standardized course syllabus and class plan, use pre‑developed instructional materials, and engage class members in discussions during live class sessions. Provide feedback on and grade student work, establish and communicate regular office hours, and respond to student issues and questions within forty‑eight business hours. Maintain reliable access to the learning management system, meeting technical specifications, and ensuring high‑speed Internet access. Minimum Education And Experience Requirements A master’s degree in public health or a related field is required. A PhD in public health or a similar field is preferred. Required Qualifications Significant work and/or teaching experience directly related to the course being taught. Experience with public health practice or research focused on understanding factors that contribute to public health problems. Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively manage group discussions. Strong writing skills, with experience providing feedback on written assignments. Preferred Qualifications Experience/background in multiple public health topics and disciplines. Experience teaching in higher education and/or online settings.
