Role Description This full-time, on-site Licensed Funeral Director role is based in Kalamazoo, MI. The Funeral Director will meet with families to plan and coordinate funeral, memorial, and graveside services, ensuring arrangements reflect the wishes, beliefs, and cultural practices of those served. Daily responsibilities include overseeing embalming and preparation of decedents, managing visitations and services, and coordinating with clergy, cemeteries, and other service providers. The role also involves completing required documentation, maintaining compliance with state and local regulations, and supporting families with clear communication and compassionate guidance. The Funeral Director will collaborate with other team members to uphold Heritage Family’s standards of professionalism, dignity, and care. Qualifications Strong technical proficiency in embalming and related preparation procedures, with attention to safety, ethics, and regulatory compliance. Demonstrated experience working in funeral homes, including coordinating services, managing logistics, and maintaining professional facilities. Ability to provide sensitive, respectful family services, offering guidance and support during times of loss. Excellent communication and customer service skills for interacting with families, colleagues, and external partners. Current state funeral director license (or eligibility to obtain licensure in Michigan). Knowledge of funeral service laws, documentation requirements, and industry best practices. Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with capacity to handle multiple services and tasks concurrently. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed. Associate or bachelor’s degree in mortuary science or a related field preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
