Job Title: HVAC Technician Job Description

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to provide preventive maintenance and general maintenance tasks at Army Reserve Centers around Syracuse, NY. The role involves maintaining and repairing various HVAC systems and associated components, ensuring the smooth operation of facility systems through monitoring and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair all types of HVAC systems and associated components.

• Monitor and repair various mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, equipment, and controls.

• Install, modify, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain air conditioning equipment and systems.

• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on required systems.

• Organize work by studying work orders, diagrams, specifications, drawings, and blueprints.

• Gather required materials and test systems to identify malfunctions.

• Repair or replace sealants, parts, and components as necessary.

• Recommend necessary spare inventory parts for emergency repairs.

• Provide general preventative maintenance and trouble call support for non-HVAC components, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry requirements.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of five years of experience working on commercial heating/air conditioning/refrigeration systems and controls.

• Ability to read blueprints and apply basic math.

• Understanding of local electrical and HVAC codes.

• Strong general mechanical aptitude.

• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

• Attention to detail and impeccable dependability.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• EPA Certification required.

• Experience with conduit bending.

• Facilities maintenance experience.

• Chillers experience.

• Each complete year of accredited college education in a related field, including vocational schooling with an HVAC specialty, may be substituted for equivalent years of experience.

Work Environment

Work on commercial facilities, Monday through Friday, for 8 hours per day with flexible start and end times. Dress code is suitable for maintenance work.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elkridge, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
