Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) - Project Manager

Professional Land Surveyor / Survey Project Manager Trueline's client, a multidisciplinary engineering and surveying firm serving clients throughout Maine, is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor / Survey Project Manager to join its Survey & Geomatics team in South Portland, Brunswick, or Sanford. This is a leadership-track opportunity for an experienced PLS who can independently manage survey projects, lead field and technical teams, strengthen client relationships, and grow toward future Director or VP-level responsibility. What You'll Do as the Professional Land Surveyor / Survey Project Manager: Manage land surveying projects from proposal and scope development through final delivery Serve as the primary client contact for assigned projects Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and deliverables Coordinate and lead survey field crews Oversee field data collection and ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently Review survey data, calculations, drawings, and technical deliverables for quality and completeness Prepare, review, and ultimately stamp survey documents once appropriately licensed in Maine Oversee boundary surveys, plats, topographic surveys, construction staking, and related geomatics work Coordinate closely with civil engineering, design, permitting, and other internal disciplines Monitor project financial performance and resource allocation Ensure projects meet applicable local, state, federal, and professional standards Resolve technical, client, scheduling, and field issues throughout the project lifecycle Mentor junior surveyors and help develop future technical and project leaders Build trusted, long-term relationships with clients Support continued growth of the Survey & Geomatics practice Stay current on surveying technology, software, standards, and best practices Take on increasing leadership responsibility as the organization continues to grow Must-Haves ...the Professional Land Surveyor / Survey Project Manager: Active Professional Land Surveyor license Ability to obtain Maine PLS licensure within a reasonable timeframe 5+ years of professional land surveying experience At least 2 years of meaningful project management experience Ability to independently manage survey projects from proposal through completion Experience coordinating and leading survey field crews Experience managing project budgets, schedules, staffing, and deliverables Strong technical surveying knowledge Strong client-facing communication skills Ability to review technical work for accuracy and quality Leadership presence and interest in taking on greater organizational responsibility Strong organization, accountability, and follow-through Interest in establishing a long-term career in Maine Ability to work from the South Portland, Brunswick, or Sanford office Nice-to-Haves ...the Professional Land Surveyor / Survey Project Manager: Current Maine PLS license Existing Maine surveying experience Strong personal or professional ties to Maine Boundary survey experience Topographic survey experience Construction staking experience Plat preparation experience Carlson Survey experience Civil 3D experience AutoCAD experience Experience mentoring junior survey staff Experience contributing to business development or proposal preparation Experience working within a multidisciplinary civil engineering environment Experience supporting permitting and land development projects Previous team leadership or supervisory responsibility Interest in progressing toward Director or VP-level leadership Our Client Offers: Base salary targeted at approximately $85,000-$117,000 Flexibility above $117,000 for a highly experienced candidate Compensation based on licensure, technical depth, project management experience, and leadership potential Opportunity to work from South Portland, Brunswick, or Sanford High level of project ownership Direct client responsibility Opportunity to lead and mentor survey staff Collaborative work with civil engineering, design, and permitting teams Clear runway toward broader leadership responsibility Potential long-term path into Director or VP-level leadership Stable opportunity with a well-established Maine-based organization Strong emphasis on collaboration, accountability, responsiveness, service, and long-term success Trueline and its clients are unabashed equal-opportunity employers committed to a diverse workforce.
