Senior Systems Administration

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in need of a Senior Systems Administration in Boston, MA.Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain on-prem storage and backup systems (Dell EMC Unity, IDPA, Rubrik)
• Monitor daily backup operations and ensure successful completion
• Perform regular data restore testing and validate recovery processes
• Optimize SAN storage performance for VMware environments
• Monitor, analyze, and maintain health, patching, and firmware for storage and backup systems
• Oversee backup and storage replication; Enhance DR and recovery strategies
• Recommend and implement improvements across storage, backup, and virtualization environments
• Create and maintain documentation, standards, and procedures
• Lead storage and backup projects, ensuring on-time delivery
• Partner with DBAs to ensure reliable database backup strategies
• Troubleshoot issues, analyze performance, and deliver solutions
• Work with vendors to evaluate tools and recommend improvements
• Support design, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems
• Participate in after-hours support rotation
• Operate independently while applying best practices across assignments

Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's degree with 7-10+ years of relevant experience
• Strong experience with VMware, storage, backup systems, and Windows AD
• Deep understanding of Active Directory, DNS, and core Windows services
• Experience managing private cloud and highly available virtual environments
• Hands-on experience with EMC Unity, NetApp, and HPE ProLiant servers
• Proven ability to design and implement enterprise virtual infrastructure (ESXi)
• Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell or similar)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with ability to prioritize and multitask

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.


We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
