We are looking for a detail-oriented Collections Specialist to support a legal organization in Washington, District of Columbia through a Contract position. This opportunity is ideal for someone who can balance accurate billing support with proactive account follow-up while maintaining a thoughtful approach with clients. The role focuses on managing receivables, resolving payment issues, and helping keep billing and collection activity organized and current.

Responsibilities:
• Monitor outstanding accounts and follow up with clients to secure timely payment while maintaining clear communication.
• Review billing records for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and coordinate corrections to support efficient collection efforts.
• Partner with internal teams to address account questions, clarify invoice details, and resolve payment-related concerns.
• Maintain detailed documentation of collection activity, client interactions, and account status updates in internal records.
• Prioritize assigned receivables and take appropriate action to reduce aging balances and improve cash flow.
• Investigate disputed charges and work with stakeholders to reach timely and accurate resolution.
• Prepare account summaries and collection status reports to provide visibility into open balances and progress.
• Support legal billing processes as needed, including coordination on invoices and client account follow-up.• Experience in collections, accounts receivable, or billing support roles.
• Working knowledge of collection procedures and best practices for managing outstanding balances.
• Ability to review invoices and account details with accuracy and strong attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Experience supporting billing and collection activities in a detail-focused services environment is preferred.
• Legal industry or legal billing experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with standard office systems and the ability to maintain organized account records.
