Overnight Veterinary Technician

This position is offering a sign‑on bonus of up to $10,000 based on experience and credentials. BluePearl Pet Hospital in Rockville, MD is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Overnight team! Schedule: flexible weekly shifts, rotating weekends Pay: $24.50 – $49.00 / hour + competitive shift differentials This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. We offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4‑hour minimum. For example: Mon – Fri, 6 pm to 8 am = $4.00 /hr shift differential Sat & Sun, 8 am to 6 pm = $4.00 /hr shift differential Sat & Sun, 6 pm to 8 am = $5.50 /hr shift differential As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will: Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment. Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure. Perform digital radiography using proper technique and positioning of patients. Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert the Veterinarian to changes and issues. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR. Properly calculate medical math, including constant‑rate infusions, and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration. Be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters. Have a passion for mentoring and training other co‑workers. Have patience and empathy to address client concerns. Perform additional relevant job responsibilities. Why BluePearl?
