Maintenance Specialist I (Open)

Location: Construction Facilities Management Office, Joint Force Headquarters, 2433 NW 24th Street, Lincoln NE

Job Duties

• Performs skilled painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding work in the major renovation and construction of building structures to construction, maintaining and repairs.
• Constructs, maintains, and repairs concrete and other foundations, and interior and exterior walls and ceilings from constructions to repairs.
• Installs, replaces, repairs, and rebuilds locks, electronic electrical locks, security devices, and other hardware to ensure the security of state buildings and property.
• Inspects and audits work areas and facilities for safety hazards.
• Performs skilled work in operating and maintaining building control systems.
• Schedules and performs specialized preventative maintenance and repairs for equipment systems.
• Other duties as assigned.

Starting hourly pay rate is $22.327 effective 7/1/26.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding or other building trade. Experience in building maintenance, a mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations or training may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis as determined appropriate by the agency.
• Other: Background/motor vehicle check will be required. Must have a valid driver's license.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of standard use, maintenance and safety practices associated with hand tools, power tools and light to heavy machinery; fire codes and fire prevention regulations and procedures.
• Skill in the use of hand tools, power tools and building maintenance equipment;
• Ability to communicate effectively, understand and follow instructions, read and comprehend blueprints, reference books and equipment manuals.
