Plant Manager At Kings Grid of Portland, Portland, OR, the Plant Manager reports to the Vice President Operations and oversees day‑to‑day plant operations for extrusion processing, maintenance, quality, and shipping/receiving. The role ensures manufacturing objectives are achieved in a safe, timely and cost‑effective manner. Who we are looking for: We are looking for a Plant Manager based in Louisville, KY. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in a related field and has at least 5 years of plant or general management experience in a manufacturing environment, or prior success as a Plant Manager or equivalent at Atkore. Experience in lean manufacturing or a business‑system‑based company is required. What you’ll do: Provide direction, development and leadership for the facility and share best practices with other Plant Managers to run a safe, productive and cost‑effective plant. Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards. Implement cost‑effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries. Participate in regular P&L reviews to ensure that budgets are met; develop and implement programs for optimal equipment utilization, maintenance, and labor and material costs. Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses. Provide leadership and training to accomplish company goals and objectives. Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or adjust them as needed. Manage capital asset maintenance. Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs. Provide safety and health direction and support; ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations. Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among personnel. What you’ll bring: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or at least 5 years of plant/general management experience, or prior success as a Plant Manager or equivalent at Atkore. Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements. Background in manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures. Advanced knowledge of PVC water‑pipe extrusion process preferred. Ability to implement Lean manufacturing practices and drive continuous improvement. Six Sigma or Project Management experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Computer literate; proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience mentoring and developing employees. Availability to work off‑shift occasionally to provide training and continuous improvement initiatives. Ability to work both as part of a team and as a team leader or independent contributor. Within 6 months, you’ll: Maintain and be accountable for KPI visual reporting while actively participating in Lean Daily Management activities, including GEMBA walks. Create and modify standardized work and ensure consistent application by all team members. Hire talent, coach and manage performance of your team members, and handle compensation responsibilities for direct reports. Identify ways to strengthen the team’s commitment to Atkore’s core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence. Within 12 months, you’ll: Be managing an efficient plant and team that delivers Atkore’s strategy. Have meaningful performance conversations with your direct reports. Resolve any issues quickly and safely.
