SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Chief Program Officer and Vice President in a collaborative leadership role in the organization, the Clinical Director is responsible for ensuring the overall effectiveness of the clinical aspect of the program. Directs clinical components and facilitates clinical/residential interface.
Facilitates organization-wide quality improvement and program development. Plans and oversees clinical program initiatives and in collaboration with the Clinical team, participates in program development and administration as part of ensuring the integrity and success of clinical program and services. The Clinical Director works closely with the Chief Executive Officer to ensure that program development and administration of programs and services are meeting the needs of program participants
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Meet with each residential clinician regarding treatment planning and discharge planning.
2. Verify ancillary appointments being kept.
3. Verify all therapists’ weekly reports are in and accurate to include family members contacted; number of family members in family group; sessions completed by family therapist and cotherapists.
4. Carries cell phone for “on call” coverage.
5. Ensure referrals are made to outside therapist/psychiatrists, etc. and to continuing levels of care both within our system and to other programs.
6. Reviews and updates of the recovery plan through written documentation on the Recovery Plan; Review (weekly) at clinical staffing.
7. Communicates the client’s progress through record-keeping and verbal interaction with the Facility staff personnel and referral sources.
8. Maintains professional rapport with the referral source as well as utilization review personnel.
9. Keeps the Facility office staff appraised of pertinent interaction with clients.
10. Attends all staffing, in-service training and meetings as required, including weekly clinical staffing and team meetings, as well as any additional meetings as requested by the supervisor.
11. Works in cooperation with Administration, therapy staff and ancillary staff members to establish consistent, therapeutic interventions to ensure optimum individual progress.
12. Acts as a representative of the Facility to the community and educational institutions by request of supervisor.
13. Monitors work performance for performance improvement and quality assurance issues, i.e. peer reviews on client charts.
14. Participates in performance improvement opportunities as requested.
15. Maintains working knowledge and complies with DHCS standards.
16. Observes The Facility policy and procedure requirements as it pertains to personnel.
17. Conforms to the philosophy and ethics of the Facility.
18. Demonstrates the concepts of philosophy through courteous and caring behavior toward all clients, staff and visitors.
19. Facilitates weekly clinical supervision meetings with clinicians, resident advisors and psychiatrists.
20. Obtain weekly QA report and discuss with clinicians if there are concerns.
21. Create ways to inspire the entire staff, i.e. fun at staff meetings; spend quality time with staff that you don’t directly supervise.
22. Coordinate with VP one-in-service per month for staff development of all staff.
23. Coordinates with VP and CEO to meet licensing requirements.
24. Intervenes and assists as needed clinically with clients’ therapists and assigned team, families and referral sources (crisis intervention, ATA risks, etc.).
25. Obtain admission profile sheet for each admission from Program/Clinical Supervisor.
26. Assign clinician to case and give clinician admission profile sheet.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
1. Participates in Quality Improvement task groups (as assigned).
2. Interface with assigned client’s insurance, managed care companies, planning and concurrent review.
3. Ensures client records for assigned case load are comprehensive, complete, neat and meet licensing standards.
4. Provide supervisor with a weekly referral and QA report.
5. Participates in alumni and referral source events pertinent to the facility.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum of a Master’s degree. (LCSW preferred)
• Minimum of one (3) years training/experience in addiction preferred
• Demonstrated ability to cooperate with team members and work in collaborative team setting, flexible in accepting assignments that correspond with a varied workload.
• Communication skills are sufficient to assess clients and interpret information in terms of chemical dependency.
• Maintains current CPR and First Aid training.
• Current TB Test or secured at time of hire.
• Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth.
• Valid unrestricted state driver's license.
PHYSICAL DEMAND/WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Physical Effort: Work activities require long periods of standing and sitting; independent body mobility (stoop, bend, walk routinely to perform daily tasks; ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.; sufficient vision to read standard text; manual dexterity to use hands, arms, shoulder repetitively to write, record and document information daily.
• Stress: Performs in high stress environment with psychiatric or chemically dependent clients. Work activities are partially structured and require judgment in setting priorities.
• Clinical decisions require judgment based upon commonly accepted principles of recovery.
• Other decisions are guided by policies/procedures or guidelines and precedents established by similar situations.
