Tradewinds 41 is seeking an experienced, motivated, and dependable  Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team. We are an elevated waterfront steak and seafood restaurant in Vero Beach, focused on high-quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, consistency, and exceptional guest experiences.

Working closely with our Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will play an important role in the daily operation of our kitchen, including leading the culinary team during service, maintaining food quality and presentation standards, assisting with preparation and production, and helping ensure an organized, efficient, and professional kitchen environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Support the Executive Chef in overseeing day-to-day kitchen operations
• Lead and supervise the culinary team during preparation and service
• Maintain consistency in food quality, preparation, portioning, and presentation
• Ensure recipes, plating standards, and established procedures are followed
• Assist with prep, line execution, and service as needed
• Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen
• Assist with inventory, receiving, proper storage, rotation, and product organization
• Help monitor food waste, portion control, and overall food costs
• Train, coach, and support culinary team members
• Communicate effectively with the Executive Chef, management team, and front-of-house leadership
• Help maintain an efficient and positive kitchen culture
• Assist with execution of private events, special menus, and restaurant events
• Step into a leadership role in the Executive Chef's absence

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is an experienced culinary professional who takes pride in their work and understands the importance of both leadership and attention to detail. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, calm under pressure, and comfortable taking ownership of the kitchen during service.

Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, Lead Line Cook, or similar culinary leadership position is preferred. Experience in an upscale, high-volume, steakhouse, seafood, or scratch-kitchen environment is a plus.

Candidates should have strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by restaurant operations.
