Our growing Data Analytics practice is seeking a talented professional to help clients harness the power of their data.Position OverviewThe Data Analytics & Visualization Specialist will serve as a trusted technical advisor and solutions provider, delivering turnkey data analysis and visualization services to FNI's diverse client base. This role bridges the gap between raw data and meaningful insight, combining business analysis expertise, data engineering proficiency, and dynamic dashboard development into a seamless client experience. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver who thrives in a client-facing environment and can translate complex data into compelling visual narratives that drive informed decision-making.Key ResponsibilitiesClient Engagement & Business AnalysisServe as the primary point of contact for data analytics engagements, building strong, trust-based client relationshipsFacilitate discovery sessions and stakeholder interviews to clearly define client goals, business requirements, and success metricsTranslate client needs into actionable technical specifications and project scopesCommunicate project status, findings, and deliverables to both technical and non-technical audiences with clarity and confidenceIdentify opportunities to expand analytics services and provide value-added solutions to existing clientsData Engineering & ManagementAssess client data environments, including sources, formats, quality, and accessibilityDesign and implement data pipelines, transformations, and integration workflows to prepare data for analysisPerform data cleaning, normalization, and validation to ensure accuracy and reliabilityDevelop and maintain data models and schemas appropriate for reporting and visualization platformsWork with structured and unstructured data from a variety of sources, including databases, GIS systems, spreadsheets, and cloud platformsDashboard Development & VisualizationDesign, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards and analytical reports tailored to client needsCreate intuitive, visually compelling data products that empower clients to explore and act on their data independentlyApply best practices in data visualization, UX design, and storytelling to maximize user engagement and comprehensionMaintain and enhance existing dashboards based on evolving client requirements and feedbackIncorporate geospatial data and mapping capabilities where applicableCollaboration & InnovationWork cross-functionally with FNI engineers, scientists, project managers, and other technical staff to integrate analytics into broader project deliverablesStay current with emerging tools, technologies, and industry trends in data analytics and visualizationContribute to internal knowledge sharing, process improvement, and the development of reusable frameworks and templatesSupport business development efforts, including proposal writing and client presentationsQualificationsEducation:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Geography, or a related fieldExperience:Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related disciplineDemonstrated proficiency with one or more leading visualization platforms, including:Microsoft Power BITableauESRI Experience BuilderOr comparable enterprise-grade toolsProven experience with data engineering tasks, including ETL processes, data modeling, and database querying (SQL)Strong business analysis skills, including requirements gathering, stakeholder facilitation, and documentationExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiencesDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environmentClient-facing experience with a track record of successful project deliveryPreferred QualificationsProficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages, such as:Python,R,JavaScript, DAX,M (Power Query), orSQL variantsExperience with cloud data platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)Familiarity with GIS data and geospatial analyticsExperience in the public sector, municipal, environmental, or infrastructure industriesKnowledge of Agile or iterative project delivery methodologiesRelevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft PL-300, Tableau Desktop Specialist, ESRI certifications)About Freese and NicholsAt the heart of our culture is our LEADS values (Learn continuously, Engage as family, Act with integrity, Deliver quality, and Serve always).
