Job Title: Second Ops Technician

Job Description

The Second Ops Technician performs tooling and equipment set-ups, including tool installation and machine preparation, to support secondary operations in an injection molding environment. This role troubleshoots and repairs production equipment, monitors product quality and process productivity, and collaborates closely with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve system issues and support efficient, safe operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform tooling and equipment set-ups, including installing injection molds and preparing machines to support secondary operations and ensure equipment produces quality parts.
• Troubleshoot and repair production equipment as needed, including replacing cutting tools, adjusting machine settings, and supporting automation systems.
• Monitor product quality and process productivity, identifying issues and taking corrective action to maintain consistent output.
• Support maintenance systems and perform maintenance-related activities as directed to keep equipment in optimal operating condition.
• Work with maintenance and process engineering teams to troubleshoot and repair system failures and improve equipment performance.
• Collect and enter data to support procedures, engineering tests, and continuous improvement activities.
• Interact with employees in a positive and professional manner to support a collaborative work environment.
• Train employees on the proper use of technical equipment, including automation systems, CNC machines, and other production machinery.
• Follow established safety practices, recognize occupational hazards, and contribute to maintaining a safe and orderly work area.
• Perform other related duties as required to support production and secondary operations.

Essential Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work with production machinery and tooling.
• Hands-on experience using hand and power tools, including wrenches, power tools, and basic automotive-style tools.
• Mechanical troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing equipment issues and making appropriate adjustments or repairs.
• Experience with machine set-up and operation, preferably in injection molding or a similar manufacturing environment.
• Basic to moderate computer skills, including familiarity with PC operations and MS Office applications.
• Good time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet production requirements.
• Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work instructions and safety-related procedures provided in English.
• Capability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions, and to follow safety practices consistently.
• Physical ability to regularly stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, talk, hear, and see, and to frequently stand and walk while performing job duties.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in injection molding, metal molding, or related manufacturing environments is beneficial.
• Experience in automotive mechanics, automotive technology, or similar mechanical fields is a plus.
• Ability to read and work from blueprints or technical drawings is advantageous.
• Comfort working with tool boxes, power tools, and performing tasks similar to oil changes or mechanical adjustments.
• Good communication skills and a positive approach to training and supporting coworkers.
• Ability to work varying schedules during training and adapt to different shift structures.
• Mechanical inclination and interest in working with automated and CNC equipment.

Work Environment

This role is based in an injection metal molding manufacturing facility where the production floor is densely arranged with molding machines, creating a busy and highly active environment. There is a strong emphasis on safety, with established procedures and a culture focused on recognizing hazards and following proper precautions. Work involves regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity while operating and setting up equipment. The schedule options include Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., providing consistent daytime shifts. Team members use a variety of hand and power tools, automated systems, and CNC machinery in a production-focused setting, and are expected to follow appropriate attire and safety gear requirements suitable for a manufacturing floor.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilsonville, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
