Job Description:\n\nA. General Purpose of Job: The primary purpose of this position is to lead and provide basic, routine, and complex HVAC fabrication to the customers of the CKP. This person must have a clear understanding of HVAC systems, related job materials and safety. This position is responsible for securing complete materials list, reviewing job scope, performing fabrication and possible installation, through to handling technical checks. This position reports to the Installation Supervisor. This position impacts the profitability of the Company by working efficiently, not wasting time on the job, not wasting materials, not breaking tools needlessly, not creating rework, maintaining a billing rate of at least 90% of time, and by turning in billing documents, work reports or receipts every time the position returns to the office or at the end of the business day. B. Duties and Tasks: The employee in this position must be able to perform the duties and tasks: 1. Responsible for enacting and reinforcing one of the Company’s values, which is THE CUSTOMER IS OUR FIRST PRIORITY. Each employee is here to support that priority with prompt, quality, safe, and friendly service. 2. Represents company with a professional image when on construction and installation jobs with both friendly, professional attitude and appearance. INSTALL DUTIES 3. Performs complex HVAC fabrication work, including lay out of equipment and duct runs, etc. 4. Performs complex problem solving activities, referring advanced questions to the Installation Supervisor. 5. Participates in the training of other technical positions as instructed by the Installation Supervisor. 6. Serves as a reference for HVAC install job materials, parts, work practices, HVAC codes, repair methods, replacement, methods, use of HVAC equipment, etc 7. Assists with the development and documentation of work protocols, training guides, checklists etc. OTHER DUTIES 8. Communicates effectively with the Installation Supervisor throughout the day. Lets the Installation Supervisor know when work is behind or ahead of the planned schedule by at least 30 minutes. Notifies supervisor of all damaged equipment or material and any problems that may exist upon delivery that would significantly delay job schedule. 9. Reviews and is familiar with all drawings, job specifications, building plans, material and equipment lists, job requirements, job scope, job schedule, target completion date, and shop conditions prior to the start of an assigned job. Understands time and material requirements of the job. Any questions about the job should be directed to the Service and Installation Manager or Project Manager prior to the job start. 10. Receives material lists from field for fabrication. Operates shop equipment in a timely, safe and efficient manner 11. Programs plasma cutting table efficiently for fabrication. 12. Properly prepares for the job. Has appropriate tools, equipment, materials, parts, safety equipment, hardhat, safety glasses, ear protectors, gloves, work boots, appropriate clothing, protective clothing, etc. available to use. Ensures that equipment, parts, and materials are pulled and loaded prior to field installers leaving for the job. Checks materials and parts list with PIC to ensure accuracy before leaving shop. 13. Safely and efficiently uses appropriate metal working tools to prepare or assist with the preparation of ductwork specified for each job. 14. For projects lasting more than one day, by 2:00PM, identifies necessary parts, hardware, and materials required the next work day and communicates this need to the PIC. Ensures that equipment, parts, and materials are pulled, checked, and loaded prior to leaving each day for job. Checks materials and parts list to ensure accuracy before leaving shop. Notes and reports any discrepancies or shortages at that time. 15. Moves equipment and material to and from warehouse in a manner to prevent damage to Company equipment or customer’s property. 16. Within two hours of the start of the job studies scope, inspects to reassess material and equipment needs and to establish the sequence of installation of the specified HVAC system. Assists with HVAC systems planning, site inspection, and layout. Identifies any issues or needs early enough to resolve them so as not to jeopardize the job schedule or plan. 17. Receives any items direct shipped to the shop such as equipment, parts, material, etc. Verifies count and checks item(s) with invoice and shipping paperwork, legibly writes job number on invoice and turns this paperwork into the Installation Supervisor (IS) within 24 hour of receipt. The IS will make sure that this paperwork gets to the Service and Installation Office daily. 18. Installs furnaces, air conditioners, and related electrical equipment to meet Company standards, job specifications, in a complete, accurate, and timely manner to cover all costs and to meet the gross profit targets of the business. Conducts tech check at completion of installation according to manufacturer’s and Company’s specifications. 19. If assigned a vehicle, responsible for its inventory. Tracks equipment, components, parts, and materials used from vehicle inventory. Makes sure that these items are included on the customer’s invoice or contract job records. Makes sure job number is on all job documents, lists, work orders, and requisitions. Replaces van inventory daily by providing Part and Inventory Coordinator (PIC) with a list at the end of each business day of what items must be replaced. Receives and checks these items from the PIC the next business day or when returning to shop for any reason. Must provide odometer readings for assigned vehicle as requested. 20. Hangs steel supports or hangers from ceiling joists to hold ductwork. 21. Appropriately tests HVAC equipment prior to leaving installation site. Explains the system to the customer and trains them on its operation 22. Trouble shoots HVAC repair problems. Reviews possible operating errors, inspects system to identify the cause of malfunction, problem or defect. Identifies all problem(s), reviews related information, develops and evaluates options and implements solution(s). 23. Orders all non-stock parts by calling the PIC. Contacts as soon as the need is known. Provides model, serial number, part number, and identifies when the part is needed. Exception: If there is an immediate part needed for a major emergency service issue contact the Installation Supervisor to obtain the part. 24. Performs various complex HVAC repair and service work as identified during installations. 25. Controls and protects parts, materials, supplies, tools and equipment of CKP being used for assigned jobs against damage, theft or vandalism. 26. Performs various general laborer activities to meet the needs of the projectsperformed by the Company. Clears away project debris. 27. Communicates effectively with customers, other contractors, and subcontractors on the job site. When making service visits, contacts the customer prior to anticipated time of arrival and confirms that he is on his way. If schedule is off by more than an hour calls and tells the customer of his new estimated time of arrival. If customer is not satisfied with the new time, contacts the Intall Supervisor to handle or reschedule. 28. Responsible for keeping assigned Company equipment and tools available at all work times. 29. Maintains working knowledge of basic mechanical codes and related technologies. 30. Performs warranty work as assigned. Does not imply or in any way promise warranty to customer. When asked a warranty question, always responds with, “I will forward your claim to our warranty office. They will be in touch with you concerning any claim.” Customer may have to provide and submit documentation of installation date to warranty insurance company. Tech will submit model number, serial number, part number, reason for replacement/failure on the time and material sheet, along with any other required information and the faulty part to the Service and Installation Office at the end of the business day. This information will be used to process any claim. The Tech will place the replaced part in the box of the replacement and clearly write the date the part was replaced, customer’s name, model #, and serial number of the equipment replaced on the part box. All Company business will be submitted and billed as if it was not warranty work. 31. Documents unusual or questionable shop and equipment conditions, including any that need replacement, by taking pictures using a camera provided by the Company. These pictures will help with verifying and validating site conditions, making estimates more accurate, allowing others in the office to assess the situation, or in documenting a warranty claim. 32. Keeps records of assignments and produces detailed work reports. Completes all necessary paperwork, job logs, timesheets, and invoices, accurately and submits them to the S&I Office to meet the established deadlines and needs of the Business. Ensures that the job number, model number, serial number, and other pertinent information are written on all service tickets without fail. If missing, the Technician may be asked to retrieve data on their own time. Identifies what trade (plumbing, electrical, or HVAC) was performed and uses a separate document for each trade. Clearly lists job status on paperwork submitted to the S&I Office. Clearly marks documents “Job Complete” or “Job Not Complete”. If job is not complete, clearly identifies additional material and labor requirements to finish. 33. Actively looks for additional work. Notifies the Installation Supervisor with complete job information when additional work is identified. Notifies the Project Manager with complete job information when additional work is requested for contract jobs. Obtains written cost estimate from CKP Project Manager or Installation Supervisor and obtains written customer approval prior to starting any additional work. 34. Actively looks for opportunities to sell preventive maintenance contracts to customers. 35. Responsible for cleaning up job site daily and after installation is completed. Returns unused material, equipment, parts, and components to warehouse at the end of each business day or as soon as possible. These items must be clearly identified with job number. 36. If assigned a Company van, ensures it is operating properly and is kept clean and presentable. Notifies supervisor, as soon as possible, if vehicle is in need of maintenance or repair. Checks oil, fluid levels, and tire pressure with each fuel fill up. Fills up fuel on own time. Notifies supervisor every 4500 miles so vehicle servicing and oil change can be scheduled by 5000 mile intervals. 37. Directs work of any helpers or laborers that may be assigned to the position. 38. Assists in training of other HVAC Installers by answering questions, instructing helpers in correct construction methods, and showing by example. 39. Immediately corrects, or reports any unsafe condition to supervisor. 40. Uses tools and equipment only after receiving proper training. Always uses tools and equipment properly, efficiently, and safely to prevent damage and injury. 41. Wears appropriate protective clothing, safety glasses, and uses safety devices. Safety glasses are required while working with power equipment. 42. Works in a safe manner obeying Company safety policies, electrical codes, general contractor safety programs, OSHA codes and common safety practices. Wears appropriate protective clothing and uses safety devices. 43. May perform the functions of a HVAC Service Technician, Plumber, Electrician, Helper, or General Laborer as assigned by the supervisor. 44. Removes old mechanical equipment, furnaces, or air conditioning units to meet the Company’s work standards and to minimize damage to the customer’s property. Arranges for old units and materials to be disposed of properly. 45. Maintains working knowledge of basic mechanical codes, heating systems, and refrigeration technologies. 46. Restricts his/her unchangeable time and personal phone calls to meals or breaks, which do not exceed the allotted time. 47. Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. A.
