Supira Medical, a clinical-stage Shifamed Portfolio Company, is developing a low-profile, high continuous flow percutaneous ventricular assist device (pVAD) to provide temporary mechanical circulatory support in high risk percutaneous coronary interventional (HRPCI) procedures as well as patients suffering from cardiogenic shock.

Description: The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting mechanics and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the company's financial records. This role will own key components of the monthly close process, maintain supporting schedules and reconciliations, and assist in preparing financial statements for management and external auditors. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys building disciplined accounting processes in a growing, venture-backed environment and who is comfortable working in a regulated industry where financial statements are subject to annual AICPA audit.

Responsibilities, Skills & Hands-On Experience:

• Month-End Close: Manage the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all close activities. Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid amortization, and other standard closing entries. Review supporting documentation and maintain clear audit-ready schedules for all material accounts. Maintain and update close checklists and procedures to support efficient monthly reporting.
• Account Reconciliations: Prepare and review all financial statement account reconciliations each month. Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner. Ensure reconciliation documentation is organized and audit-ready.
• Financial Reporting: Compile monthly financial statements, including: Balance Sheet Statement of Operations Cash Flow support schedules Prepare budget vs. actual variance reports for management review. Maintain supporting schedules used in management reporting and board reporting packages.
• Clinical Trial and R&D Accounting Support: Assist with tracking and recording clinical trial and research-related expenses, including vendor accruals and study-related costs. Maintain documentation for contract research organizations (CROs) and other clinical vendors to support accrual estimates.
• Audit and Compliance: Assist in preparing documentation required for the company's annual AICPA audit. Maintain organized workpapers and schedules that support audit testing. Ensure accounting documentation meets internal control and audit standards.
• Process Improvement: Help develop and improve accounting procedures and documentation appropriate for a growing venture-backed company. Assist in implementing best practices for financial controls, reconciliations, and reporting.

Education & Work Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required CPA or CPA candidate preferred 2–5 years of accounting experience Public accounting or audit experience strongly preferred Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation Familiarity with companies subject to external audit Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to maintain audit-quality documentation Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) Advanced Excel skills Ability to work independently in a small, fast-paced environment

Our salary ranges are calculated by role, level, and location. Please note that your position within that range will be determined by your job-related knowledge, location, skills, experience, relevant education, and training/certifications. The base salary range for this full-time position is between $75,000 to $90,000 + equity + benefits.
