Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Laboratories and Scientific Services located in Ashburn, VA. Responsibilities The Mission Support Specialist (GS-0301-13) provides expert administrative, management, and program planning support to leadership within CBP's Laboratories and Scientific Services, handling workforce management, budget, procurement, property, and related mission support functions. The role delivers authoritative advice and develops solutions for complex, sensitive issues impacting office operations. This position directly supports the agency's mission by ensuring efficient and effective administrative operations that enable CBP to achieve its program goals. This position starts at a salary of $121,785.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $158,322.00 (GS-13, Step 10). GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. Performing a full range of administrative duties and special assignments related to the mission of the office. Providing senior expert level advice in an administrative specialty area(s), as well as participating in and contributing to management decisions in assigned program area. Providing comprehensive human capital management services on substantive organization functions and work practices. Advising management on budget execution against planned and forecasted operations, programs, and fiscal goals. Qualifications Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing advisory and technical support on organizational functions and work practices. Assisting senior staff with managing and administering pay, overtime, and leave. Preparing reports and briefing supervisors and managers on budget matters.
